Would like to see a photo of her hair without the wrap. Yes, there are rules in nursing school and the school will enforce them. 30+ years ago when I was in nursing school, the rule was hair could not touch the collar of the uniform and if hair was below ear length, it should not be free flowing (clips or Bobby’s pins to hole the front and sides away from the face were necessary). Also, no nail polish, not even clear and nails no longer than to the tips of the fingers. Most of us followed the rules and graduated, those that didn’t were the ones who thought they could fake their way through and flunked out.

I’d like to know what her GPA is.

There's a reason there's rules on hair. Nothing to do with black or white hair. It's called SAFETY first for the patients. Hope she never becomes a nurse.

On top of there being rules for hair, the exact same rules for hair apply to every one of the nursing students equally. Why should she get special treatment? Play by the rules or leave. Don't go to nursing school to make a fashion statement.

Yea, but you see, the rules were written by the patriarchy to keep white bitches in line and black women in chains. Get it?

Some thought that Payadue was breaking the school's hair policy, which states, "When in lab coat or uniform, hair must be neat and may not extend below the bottom of the collar of the lab coat or uniform. Therefore, long hair must be secured above the collar, off the neck and shoulders and appropriately contained at the back of the head. If the hair is 'put up' the hair may not be higher than four inches. Hair must be clean with the appearance of being shampooed regularly."
End of story, moving on to the next one

In the 1980s, how did nursing students manage their "huge hair"?
