Due to the road conditions making you unable to?

Someone should tell Mitch the Sixth Amendment still applies in Orleans Parish.

Any ticket from a private company instead of a human/civil authority isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

court

There is no court, and the person who was driving isn't relevant (unless it was operated without consent). It's an administrative hearing against the owner of the vehicle for allowing the vehicle to be operated in that way, and they mail to the address at which the vehicle is registered.

Just saw one of these unmarked and unmanned mobile units on West End.

What kind of vehicle was it? I live right off of West End and need to be on the lookout. Honestly though, they need one here--it's not uncommon to see folks doing 50+, especially on weekends with all the jacked-up cars heading to the lakefront.

mean, is it not true? Besides maybe S Claiborne, what 35 would you ever find yourself exceeding?

Magazine, poydras, tchoup, Orleans, West end, rampart (can easily do 70), St Claude, esplanade, canal, Carrollton, Claiborne, St Charles, napoleon, Louisiana (soon), calliope, erhart, Jackson (not this month) pop in to my mind

It was stolen and returned before I realized. I gave no one permission to drive it, especially in that manner.

Lafayette has a few of them, and at first they were sneaky about moving them around. They have since gotten very lazy and put them in the same places.

I always see the one on Camelia Blvd. Where else do you see them?

Sounds pretty unconstitutional: "no court", "administrative hearing". The notice itself says "Not a moving violation", not reported to insurance entities and is mailed to an address in Ohio.

Anyone who pays these deserves to be parted from their money for their inability to think for themselves. Contesting them is waste of your time to create the illusion of a legitimate due process.

Unfortunately, paying them has only encouraged Mitch to add more of these things as a profit center.

Because it's a civil penalty and not a criminal one, most Constitutional protections go out of the window. It's no different legally than getting fined for letting your grass grow too long.

As long as you're comfortable telling a police officer that to get an item number, you can take a stab.

And none are in the poor places. I wonder why that could be?

It's cheaper to buy a new license plate than to pay a single ticket.

I'm actually ok with that. Still not ok with a camera, but that's more in line of what most officers will get you for.

Right. The day that you automatically get tickets for going 1 mph over a posted speed limit I will be very angry. But 10mph buffer is fair even if it's kind of an unfair fight to use lasers and shite against a human driving a car while thinking about kids, job, divorce, sidebitches, etc.

The alternative is not paying them and having your property impounded and eventually sold to the highest bidder.

agreed

but to confirm, your statements apply to only CAMERA tickets, correct?

or do parking tickets fall under the same guidelines

I didn't realize the citizens of Orleans Parish are only allowed to drive their cars at the pleasure of the all powerful Mitch. Heckuva way to run a city. I thought the government is here to serve us all, but I guess Mitch has his own rules.

If we are first time speed offenders, will we be able to go to court and try to get a plea deal like the Mayor's son did when he got caught driving drunk?

What happens when you live in a city older than your grandparents and most of the parking is on street or strategically price to be slightly above street parking.
