And none are in the poor places. I wonder why that could be?
I know what you're saying, but for all practical purposes, there aren't any roads to speed on in the poorer areas of Lafayette.

Due to the road conditions making you unable to?
Well not necessarily. Traffic definitely plays a part in that. I see your point that it's not like a lot of the main roads will destroy your vehicle at speeds above 35, but it certainly makes for an uncomfortable ride.

Thank god I just moved from that crap fest

Parking tickets are issued by city employees, not a private company, and actually allow you due process.
Buying a new license plate will work for parking tickets also. I only know this because I still get a notice from Orleans parish for a single unpaid parking ticket I never received on a car I leased and disposed of about 7 years ago. I didn't get the notice till the car was gone and the plate was cancelled with the Louisiana OMV when I got rid of the car. But Orleans parish keeps sending me the notice as if I still have the car to this day. Clearly, their databases are not linked and presumably you could replace your car's plate and Orleans parish would never know.

After getting a speeding ticket 10 years ago my father in law explained to me speeding gets you nowhere faster unless you were driving Virginia to California. So speeding makes no sense.

Magazine, poydras, tchoup, Orleans, West end, rampart (can easily do 70), St Claude, esplanade, canal, Carrollton, Claiborne, St Charles, napoleon, Louisiana (soon), calliope, erhart, Jackson (not this month) pop in to my mind
Lo f'ing L. You are not speeding on magazine in 2017. You can barely do 70 on that stretch of I10 much less rampart.
Look I didn't mean to get in between a pissing match about how poor the roads are in Nola, but if you are going 45 on most of the roads, you deserve a ticket.

Just saw one of these unmarked and unmanned mobile units on West End. How is this legal?

It's complete bullshite.

You're wrong, but I will concede 70 would take some decent luck with lights and some recklessness for possible pedestrians. Is the road smooth enough, frick yeah. I did 45-50 on it this morning.
Same goes for Magazine.

Yeah but you save money on gas.

My flopping truck nutz conceal the license plate.

I mean, is it not true? Besides maybe S Claiborne, what 35 would you ever find yourself exceeding?
Earhart, Nashville, Napoleon, Broadway, Leak, Jefferson, Tchop, Carrollton, Wisner, Marconi, Robert E lee.....etc

Yeah, I suppose you could reach those speeds, but pot holes would be the least of your worries. The only point I am trying to make is that it was rare for me to find myself exceeding the speed limit by more than a couple mph anywhere in the city.
The main roads are not as bad as people make them out to be, but they are heavily trafficked because of this.
The beginning of magazine is nasty too btw. Hope your shocks are under warranty.

I don't drive through those killing fields.
Rampart is really nice now.
Napoleon is the street they will be racking up on. It's like a drag strip lakeside of St Charles.
I do love how they placed the new speed cameras near schools to say it is about protecting the children. No doubt they will be powered down during non-school times.

Maybe it's better cost wise to use cameras. They don't have to pay for a cop to be out ticketing speeders or have to worry about cops getting shot by the crazies as much. They could also focus their cops on doing something more productive and/or lower the amount of cops needed for their force.

Isn't there already a speed camera on Henry Clay?
And Gretna city already uses a mobile speed camera. Usually the white van is parked on Belle Chase Hwy near Mel Ott Park.

Westwego has a few, along with a couple mobile camera stands. River Rd, 4th, and I think Lapalco are the popular spots. Sometimes you see them on the Expressway, Louisiana, and E by the McDonald's, in a 15mph zone.
Think you are allowed up to 7 over on most those. Varies by speed limit.

And that has nothing to do with the road's physical conditions, which was the point.

they can and will boot your car for parking on city property, though.
Will they boot you for not having a tag on your car?

If they do, they haven't got my dad yet going on almost a year.
