Somebody setup a Go Fund Me and print flyers and run television ads for it. The political damage it would do would be worth it.

How does she owe that much in taxes with a public office job? Is she handling her own payroll?

That’s so incredibly on-brand you’d think she did it on purpose.

It sounds like both she, and they, got some Coonrod.

I voted for Bagneris in the first election but abstained from voting in the run off. I heard from everyone I asked in the know that Cantrell or Charbonnet would be inept but the latter was more crooked.

Probably not a bad idea. Not only is she going to have to pay the IRS, she is going to have to show where she got the money to pay the IRS. GoFundMe is a perfect laundry tool, when embezzling.

That's what I am trying to figure out. How is it possible to owe that much in taxes with a career mostly in public service? Did she not automatically deduct her taxes or something?

How do these people get away without paying their taxes. My mom owed liked 1500 From 2016 after my dad passed away, and they garnish her social security. Double standard?

My guess is she honestly feels like she should not have to pay taxes. A guy at my S&WB Administrative Hearing explained to me that I had to pay my inflated bill because there were about 100,000 bills in major delinquency and those people couldnt afford to pay theirs. Same thought process went into the new property tax assessments - just look at a map of whose went up. This is almost a distinct political ideology now in New Orleans.

Ordinarily I’d agree, but she’s taking major heat over the hotel collapse issue and how the city has handled it

Yes, but she isn't taking heat from the voting bloc that put her in office and will keep her in office.

Remember, skin color > everything else.

To ask her to pay those taxes is racist.

That’s just part of repetitions.

She is a strong black woman trying to run a beautiful chocolate city

How’d that hearing go? I’m fascinated an attorney hired by the SWB gets to rule on these hearings. If that doesn’t scream conflict of interest, I don’t know what does. I hate this fricking city.

As expected. Basically they sent me a $500 bill one month when every bill I've ever gotten in 7 years has been $150. They reversed it but my complaint was that they said they were reading the meter when they clearly werent. They basically told me to go kick rocks. Then on the way out the Attorney pulled me aside and told me how many year or more delinquent bills they had and how some people just couldnt pay so it made for a higher burden for those who could. I lost it in the middle of the Westbank SW&B office. I also asked him how many people they see with the same complaint, and he opened a roster of about 20 meetings and said "that's today".
