It’s almost like they’ve done this before

But isn’t there a murdered reporter

Major resources pumped in and not being bound by day to day constraints sure does help

One of the good things that has happened was awarding Sydney Torres the trash pick up in the quarter. You pay a little more, but they do a damn good job.

And if I could have waved a magic wand and made it happen, I would have had armed military all over the damn city for 2020 and 2021.

I’ve been down twice and it’s been impressive to see the city in this light

Also the swift weekend was very similar

Had they done New Years Eve before?

Too bad they can’t keep it that way.

Not surprising at all. We are the best at handling major events. It is between events when all of the problems arise.

Not blaming New Orleans for this (but not surprised it happened there), but isn’t the most prevalent story about the weekend so far about a woman drugging a sports reporter and him dying?

That ignorant count must be about ready to kill herself. The state and feds have pretty much taken over the city since New Years and she’s just a photo op person who has had no say in much of what has been happening.
Even before that, Landry, despite his faults, sent state boys to town late last year to hunt down the worst criminals.

Hell even Jason Williams woke up and has mostly been doing his job.

Nothing says Home quite like soldiers LARPing in the commercial epicenter of your city.

I was thinking the same thing. Founding Fathers would be having shite conniptions right now if they saw that. There is a reason why in the constitution they essentially forbid using military for police work.

The mayor’s limited involvement a big reason?

Imagine being proud of a city because they managed to limit things to one headline worthy incident (the reporter getting killed) during Super Bowl week. Every big city tries to scrub out the homeless and trash before events like this.
