Well murder is a type of homicide so i don tthink this is that cut and dry.

Those teens that killed the woman while carjacking would get manslaughter most likely, not murder.

But thats still a heinous crime what they did.

It is good news.

It is likely the result of the state police being involved and the pressure placed on the D.A. Also, when the policing gets tougher, the criminals move to other jurisdictions.

Im not saying its not down, but the numbers they are giving are investigated. We investigated less carjacking this year than last year, so car jackings are down. That's not how that works.

Just last year they were clearing under 40% of homicide cases. So those 60% wouldnt be lableed as a murder if they didnt have a suspect in a homicide.

quote:

In 2024, the NOPD Homicide Unit currently stands with a clearance rate of 72 percent and a solve rate also of 72 percent. Of the total 21 homicide incidents to date in 2024, 20 have been classified as murders.

So lets look at these stats, how many of the 28% of homicides that they havent solved and clear are actual murders not being labeled as murder?

quote:

There were 14 reported armed robberies in New Orleans in February 2024

Lets look at these stats, key word here is reported. So how many less carjackings were there? I really don't know, we only know less were reported.

Just take a little good news and be thankful. It's amazing the mental hoops people jump through.

I think the crime is down but i also think because it was so bad people stopped reporting shite.

Just dont know the real level.

Plus, I had to hear dems in new orleans blame the republican legislature for the crime in nola. Will they give them praise for it going down? I doubt it.

My coworkers wife was murdered sitting in her car by bourbon yesterday morning. Literally was just doing her job and died because people don’t value human life. It felt horrible talking to him this morning. Hearing a broken man cry and try to keep his composure is the worst thing ever.

shooting reports are down. when my van got stolen, I couldn't even get anyone to come so I could get a police report. counting reports and counting crimes aren't the same at all

I don't care who or why, just that it is down, in a real way.

Honestly these are the ones that matter the most to me, and where I think troop nola & nopd have really stepped up their game.

Everyday I’m seeing police chases on Instagram going after carjackers and random robberies. It’s fantastic to see them actually going after criminals and the numbers reflect their efforts.

Also, marksmanship is still very poor. I need to know how many shootings there were to know if this is actually an improvement.

Just because there hasn't been a successful murder, doesn't mean there wasn't a failed murder.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A now 18-year-old teenager faces life behind bars after being found guilty of second-degree murder in last year’s heinous carjacking and dragging death of a 73-year-old woman in New Orleans.

People are rightfully suspicious of government provided information. Of course people want this to be true, but we see these types of statistics manipulated all the time.

Jeff Landry deserves some credit here

He said he was going to make it a priority before the Super Bowl and he has.
