Considering the rough shape of New Orleans government finances, the requirement of an annual tobacco license might have made a lot more sense.

but you are't rational enough to choose to not go to a smoking bar if you don't like smoking?
I generally do. Then again, i don't go to bars alone either. It's not always my choice. And sometimes there are no other options.

Find me a smoker that isn't self centered and ill kiss your arse. You obviously believe you can blow you shite wherever you feel like.

Maybe we should ban loud music, cursing in a private business, bad odors, loud clothing, etc..to protect everyone's sensibilities.

take that up with the business owners, not the government

Is smoking banned at Harrah's?
this says yes, but may be outdated

While smoking would be allowed at cigar bars, hookah bars, outdoor areas of bars, restaurants, casinos and electronic smoking device businesses.

LE will say this is just stupid
but imagine someone saying that we should ban smoking in bars in the 1960s

Where does it end is actually a pretty legit question.
I dont know. How do you feel about weed being legalized? im sure you aren't bitching about that. You laud the progressiveness of those laws, but hate the progressiveness of no smoking in restaurants and bars. Somethings are bigger then the business owners. They aren't going to lose business. I dont see the big deal.
Once smokers adjust to it, it wont be a big deal either. Just like it has been in restaurants. No one is even talking about that. shite, New Orleans alone has +600 restaurants since Hurricane Katrina. Yea, non smoking is really killing business there!

I guess if I could inhale your fatty food and retain the negative effects then yes.

Can we make a law that people with bad breath must go outside? Can we make a law that people who don't wear deodorant have to be outside? Those both negatively effect my experience

one is progressing towards more freedom, one is progressing the other way
how exactly are you comparing the two?

I've never seen people smoke in the non-smoking bars I frequent. Are you saying that someone that smokes in a bar that allows it is self centered? Meanwhile, you're supporting a ban that limits the choices of both business owners and patrons all because your friends like going to a smoking bar and you don't like it.
