Have you ever owned a business? Do you think this is the only thing the government dictates?

when all my friends want to go to the only bar in a neighborhood that happens to be pro smoking.
that's the owner's decision, not the smokers
and why should you have the power to tell that owner and those patrons what to do? it's not your bar and you obviously don't want to go there (if it's full of smokers)

So more laws are the answer. Nice.

i don't think many people arguing against the ban are a big fan of those, either

Do you believe smoking should be allowed in planes, hotels, restaurants, etc. ?

And why is this ok just because they have dictated other things in the past? Where does it end?

i believe the owners of the planes, hotels, restaurants, etc should have the right to choose if it is allowed
let the market sort it out.

If the owners decide, yes.

Exactly. I shouldn't have to worry about that.
See, I guess I view it different.
I don't want to be surrounded by shitty service and coke dealers so I don't go to Tracey's. Little did I know I should petition the Council to make laws that dictate proper service.

yeah of course

i think a better question is asking you if we're done...or what else do we have to regulate until you think it's over

A proprietor's choice to be smoking or non smoking is much better than a blanket ordinance passed by the City Council. Leave it to the consumer to decide where they want to take their business. If you didn't want to be in a smokey bar, there were already quite a few non-smoking bars in the area. There are more important issues that the City Council should be focusing on...like violent crime in the French Quarter, low officer numbers and corruption in the NOPD, un-drivable streets...I could go on.

No smoking at Mardi Gras parades. Too much close confinement and secondhand smoke.

Laws have been in place since the beginning of time. "Where does it end" is such a stupid fricking question.
Id like to open up a strip club w/ video poker across the street from the school your 10yr old goes too, but im rational enough to realize why I cant.

but you are't rational enough to choose to not go to a smoking bar if you don't like smoking?

You seem like one of those self centered types who thinks that you have a right to not be offended without realizing that it necessarily means that everyone should have less rights than you if they disagree with you on anything.

Where does it end is actually a pretty legit question.
