NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that all bars in the city of New Orleans would need to close at 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

The ban, specifically on take-out alcohol, applies to restaurants as well in the parish. It furthers statewide restrictions put in place earlier this month.

The move to shut down bars is the latest escalation in an effort by elected officials to curb the spread of the coronavirus at some of the most common hotspots.

But what about casinos or other unauthorized gatherings? Such insanity

Updated because our media sucks

New Orleans is ratcheting up coronavirus restrictions, prohibiting all bars and restaurants in the city from selling takeout alcoholic beverages, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said Friday afternoon.
The new restriction will go into effect Saturday at 6 a.m. and will remain in effect until "we move into a position of better health in the city of New Orleans," Cantrell said.

Good, it's been well established the virus feeds on alcohol and hops.

If you sit down at a place and EAT, instead of DRINK you won't catch the Rona

All we seem to know is the virus is transmitted in bars and out of conference college football games.

I fricking despise this stupid bitch. HATE HER with a passion.

I think this might apply to breweries as well.

This will put the nail in the coffin for so so many bars.

You live in JP because the bars are open?
That is kind of sad.

Is this legal? How can any leader arbitrarily choose what businesses can open?

Latoya must've seen the video going around Facebook earlier in the week of Bourbon Street looking somewhat crowded with people drinking takeout alcohol from the bars. Can't be letting people have fun, even if its outside.

She also limited "gatherings" to 10 people.

I assume protests don't apply

Using schools and kids as a crutch to shove her BS down everyone’s throat. She is useless and pathetic. I don’t even live in New Orleans, but feel horrible for bar owners for having to deal with her and the useless governor.

Get used to the masks, the stupid social distancing, etc. Too much power going to local politicians heads and they like it.

Unconstitutional edicts from the city and governors are really putting me in a bad mood.
