I am flying to Miami for a cruise, but do not get on the ship until next Saturday, so I would have all day next Friday to sleep at the hotel to rest and recover.

I am going to stay in this thread every day until next Thursday to get updates and and make a decision next Thursday afternoon. It just seems easier to get dropped off around midnight or so.

Was just told that Hobby has no wait this morning. Sounds like this is a New Orleans issue.

Atlanta told people to arrive FOUR HOURS before their flight today

Pre line at IAH terminal C was out the door but was just a hair over 30 minutes to get through.
The normie line was allegedly 120 minutes at the time, but I can't confirm.

MSY is one of about 5 airports that have had the worst issues, but it is not a NOLA exclusive issue
The line in ATL yesterday took people SIX hours

I flew out 3 times this month and have never waited longer than 5 minutes for TSA. I did, however, wait 45 minutes to drop my bag off at Southwest.

First, the problem gets progressively worse. It has to do with TSA agents missing checks. This will be their 2nd missed paycheck this week I think so expect the problem to worsen.
2nd, so far the worst problems have been on Sundays and Fridays it seems. Least problems Tuesday-Thursday, and worse in the morning and late afternoon.
Its not going to get better unless there is a funding deal, it will only get worse

IAH had 200 minute wait times at multiple terminals yesterday.

Are they calling in sick? Or taking unpaid vacation? If they are taking sick days, how does that work?

To my knowledge yes

That's my understanding but I haven't gotten that deep in the weeds on that stuff.
A lot are just quitting

I flew out last Monday morning, no issues besides the Southwest bag problem.

Apparently things are looked at differently by some in the South regarding "not getting paid" versus will eventually get your money anyway.
Posted on 3/23/26 at 9:20 am to tigerskin
I guess my question is are they getting paid not to work?
Posted on 3/23/26 at 9:22 am to Fun Bunch
Apparently someone went on local news today and said they arrived at midnight last night for a 5am flight and barely made it
I find that hard to believe

They have to work to get the backpay. MSY has people quitting, not just calling in.

I’ve picked up or dropped off family at the airport multiple times since this has supposedly been going on and they always say they got through security in minutes.
We flew from Houston IAH to Orlando this past Friday. Arrived 3 hours early only to zoom through TSA precheck and wait around for 2-1/2 hours. Same experience yesterday coming back from Orlando. Orlando news warned us it was the end of Spring Break and to come early. Every TSA line was open and well manned with agents.
Maybe it is just a New Orleans airport thing.
