The OT hillbillies certainly love crapping on Nola right now because of statues. Nobody here really gives a shite about that, other than acknowledging/lamenting that Mitch is a jackass to pull them down. Also, it's far safer today than it used to be, only difference is now there are cameras.
The statues were part of what made it interesting. Not the biggest part by any stretch, but a part. The empty pedestals look like dog shite, as will whatever will eventually go in their place (if ever), I imagine.

Abercorn street in Savannah sucks, constant traffic.
Overall I like the area but there are parts to avoid such as parts near Savannah state university.

Two decades ago we looked at buying a home in the Savannah historic district. The folks there were really trying.
Two negatives remain in my memory:
There are different housing projects on three sides of the historic district and the river is on the fourth.
We wanted to see a play at their theater that is a lot like Le Petite. I called and there were tickets and I was told to come by in advance to pick them up. It was a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon. We drove to the theatre, and it was locked up tight. After knocking on doors and windows, someone came with a huge ring of keys and it took three locks to let me in (and she locked the door after I entered) and then the same key parade to let me out. That year, Le Petite didn't have that many locks on the doors or that secured a box office.
SCAD was helping Savannah then, I don't know what part it plays nowadays

St Augustine is better.

Well, do you like cocaine, artsy fartsy hipsters, or phenomenal food and entertainment with a side of possible murder and rape?

Would the armed bodyguards also safeguard your pussy?
But seriously, although there are still some fairly safe areas, I actually think New Orleans was safer back in the 90s when the murder rate was even higher than it is now. Back then, it seemed that the crime was in certain hot spots where only people looking for trouble were finding trouble.
But these days, it seems way more widespread. Now we know about more crimes these days because of the Internet, etc., but still, it's like these dumb, crime-loving motherf***ers love trying to outdo the next guy with how ridiculous their crimes are. Shooting at each other on the Interstate, holding up restaurants, attacking people in the French Quarter, doing drive-bys at kids' parties... Combine the crime with the pandering pu$$Y politicians and you have an impressive combo of stupidity that almost assures no real progress.

Charleston has the best bridge.

Charleston and Savannah are livable cities for white people. In fact, they're beautiful cities.
Move your lily-white family to NO and let me know how that works out for you. And it's a dump.
You are clearly uninformed bro and been reading WAYYY too much OT

New Orleans | Charleston | Savannah
I have had this conversation 4 different times in the past year with people who have travelled to all three in the past.
New Orleans is not even in the conversation anymore. Charleston usually gets the nod but Savanah is pretty close behind. New Orleans has been removed from the list. I know there are a lot of people on this board who will not accept that but for people in other parts of the country it is a no brainer just from a purely cleanliness and safety stand point. New Orleans has the edge in food but there are just too many negatives to overcome.

The quintessential Southern city would have to be Montgomery or Selma.
Of the three, it would be Savannah. No coastal city is quintessentially Southern, as you have too many outside influences along the coast.

Sure Nola's been a mess lately, but you have no idea what you're talking about. All you see is the numbers in crime. There's plenty of nice places for white people (OMG IM WHITE AND ALIVE!!!) to live.
Parts of the West Bank, Metairie, Kenner. But that's New Orleans. Where in the city limits is worth living in?

So basically the only way to be safe is to live in Lakeview and never go anywhere? Got it.
My 2 year old daughter lives in a small world and believes everything she hears without question or logic also...but to answer anyway
city limits with almost no crime: lakeview, lake vista, audobon, irish channel, garden district, English turn
within 5 minutes from nola: river ridge, old metry, jeff parish south shore
