Imagine if education systems, like LSU, just said we're gonna educate kids. Dump the administrative bloat and degrees that are useless, and charged just based on those costs.
The United States is adopting mass administrative states like the UK has done for ages. Get rid of this nonsense.

That only works for 10 years then your at 100%.
A 10% increase per year would be double the original cost in approximately 7 years

LSU Women’s and Gender Studies Degree
How will kids be able to pursue their dream of obtaining this degree with these rising costs?
Note - I do realize most colleges offer this similar garbage degree.

Actually, it’s roughly a 159% increase after 10 years.
The calculation is (1.1^10)-1
1.1^10 is a little over 2.59.
2.59-1=1.59, or 159%.

TOPS started in 1998 and quickly became so popular that it created a huge expense for the state.
bullshite! When TOPS started you had to be in the top 10% of your graduating class and have like a 3.5 cumulative GPA. It was when they started lowering qualification standards that costs ballooned.

Demographic cliff is coming for them all. Lots of k-12 school “layoffs” and non renewals, elementary school closures/consolidations. Too many seats, not enough kids. Colleges will be hurting bad in a decade.

Only exists due to LSU's desperation to stay relevant in sports, which are funded using student tuition

Maybe a PE take over of colleges isn’t such a bad thing.

So the government. Gotcha.
FYI that bottomless pit isn’t going anywhere.

1. I doubt "nepo" baby Norby worked 3 jobs while in college. He, his father and brother were all state senators.
2. I wonder how much Nicholls State is paying Norby to be their political consultant? A couple of years ago, the school was in deep financial trouble (it still might be), yet continued to add positions in administration.

If the Feds start curtailing student loans, LSU is going to go tits up.
I bet none of the college lobby will let a loan rollback happen. They can keep raising rates and the government keeps backing the loan. The loan isn't with the university. They getting paid so they don't care.

Unless you are referring to earlier version which had an income limit

Some say TOPS began in 1989 as the Louisiana College Tuition Plan when Gov. Buddy Roemer signed ACT 789 into law. The program was inspired by the education initiatives of New Orleans businessman Patrick Taylor and included a family income cap of $25,000 to $35,000.

quote:
Three years later, the program was renamed the Tuition Assistance Plan, or TAP, but kept the minimum 17.5 units in core curriculum and composite 18 ACT score requirement. The program also began with an income cap.
In 1997, Gov. Murphy Foster changed the name once more to the Tuition Opportunity Program for Students, or TOPS. The income cap was removed, making the program available to more students. The required number of core curriculum units was lowered to 16.5 and composite ACT score was raised to 19.

Why? Why the increase?
Land and facilities are paid for. You have some utilities and maintenance, but that isn't going up that fast. Faculty salary sure the hell isn't going up that fast.
What are they spending the money on?!

When? Source?
You have needed an 18 ACT score since 1992. Now a 20.
