Yeah taxing businesses less means they have more money. Some expand and hire more people.

Yes and ideally you cut the tax rate generate more economic activity and you have more taxpayers so overall revenue increases but the overall tax rate is lower . An income tax is confiscatory and more harmful than a sales tax. income tax should be zero Income tax is also statewide whereas property and some of the sales tax are local so this will allow individual parishes to compete against each other with their tax rates, which should allow for those taxes to go down also

Dude then write a fricking check to the government yourself if you want more of your income stolen.

One way to cut an expense for businesses is less taxes. Another way is to cut labor since it’s a huge expense. A lot harder to lower your rent without moving. Are you going to negotiate down your electric bill?

This is dependent upon how much money you make. Just because overall tax revenue is going to increase that doesn’t mean that every person’s tax liability will increase.

Probably, but if you are a high earner it’s likely that it’ll decrease.

ETA: I just ran the rough numbers based upon my credit card statement for the year (which includes services that don’t qualify for sales tax) and my current state tax liability, and I would’ve come out ahead last year

So quite literally a tax plan that helps the rich and hurts the majority of earners like the middle class

Sounds like shite

But muh CoSumPtIoN TaXeS aRe ThE bEsT! REEeeeee.

The mouthbreathers are too dumb to realize they were gaslit into voting themselves a tax increase while the ownership class continues to get richer and richer on their backs.

A self own that the idiot masses are celebrating.

Link to a real world study proving this? Or is this yet another OT just so story that has been crafted to validate a preconceived narrative?[

quote]Louisiana has a lot of tourists who will pay sales taxes which relieves some burden overall [/quote]

Are you sure about this?

According to my link below, tourism is not in the top 10.

LINK

quote:

What are Louisiana's Largest Industries by Revenue?
The largest industries by revenue in Louisiana are Petroleum Refining, Oil Drilling & Gas Extraction and Public Schools, which generated $129.5b, $44.9b and $22.1b in 2024.

quote:

e need to work to further reduce and eliminate the income tax and half of sales taxes are locals so people in each parish can decide to lower those as well

Why are you so fixated on eliminating the income tax? You have a real world example of being fleeced by politicians and ending up with a net tax increase.

Of course. The OT is always the exception to every single rule.

How is shifting more of the tax burden onto the middle and lower class to the benefit of the rich is good for society overall?

No one can argue our previous tax structure was working. I am glad we are moving to a different model like Texas Fla Tennessee etc.i also don’t think they should have raised the sales tax but kept it where it is but at least the direction has changed to a more business friendly model we have to be more competitive

He did. Anyone who understands income tax approves of his changes. The ones bitching are the poors who never filed to begin with… government leaches should pay more for luxury items

OP also failed math at least 3.50 times

The $5 McDonalds meal deal was $5.50 including tax. Now it’s $5.52. Glad they raised sales tax. Make all the moochers pay too.
