I need to start these. I love history and have never listened to a single one.
You are in for a treat

People have no clue of the innate violence that bubbles just beneath the thin veneer of “civilization”
It's truly amazing that people believe we've evolved past that over the last 500 years.

I enjoyed that one, but my favorite single was destroyer of worlds or American peril

Cool, this is right in my wheelhouse. I can’t wait to see where he takes this. Interesting fact-I had a bunch of elderly students in Japan in the early 90s who lived / served in Manchuria, including two men who ended up in Soviet prisons well into the 1950s. Also a wonderful elderly woman who was there as well . Bet ya didn’t know Japanese women were there too . I broke bread with these people on many occasions. Also I lived in Guam as a little child when the last Japanese soldier surrendered. He was living in a cave like a mile from where we lived. So I’ve been steeped in this stuff my whole life and I’m curious to see how he approaches it.
Start a thread about modern Japan on any board here by the way, and the yahoos here pretend it’s 1946, like time has somehow stood still for Japan. You could start a thread about Japanese midget porn and somebody would say “ I ain’t watching because Bataan “.

I’ve gotten 49 mins in about 5 times. Need to push through. Hasn’t held my interest like most of his others. Does it go to different time periods?

If another 4 hours of continuous talk with no real natural stopping points, I will have to pass again
Carlin is too long-winded for my tastes

Wonder if there’s been some weird turn toward the Japanese during WWII that’s caused a bunch of information being released, or if it’s coincidental. I’ve heard multiple reports/podcasts/articles on Unit 751 lately, including Jordan Peterson and Jocko. I’m assuming HH will touch on this as well.
Just weird considering I had never heard of it before.
I was relistening to Blueprint for Armageddon, so this is nice timing.

Even a German member of the Nazi Party was repulsed by the actions of the Japanese in Nanking.
Went back to Germany and begged Hitler to part ways with the Japanese.

Nah, they were fricked up probably worse than the Nazis. Their attrocities were the worst of the world.
frick the Japanese during WWII.

CANNOT WAIT to listen to this. The description itself sounds absolutely incredible. The Japanese are the most interesting group of people and culture in the world IMO.

Is Carlin’s main goal to not do a whole lot of shows about America because there’s already so much information out there about US History? Not that I’m complaining, he does a damn good job introducing people into a very complex topic. I wonder how much of this series will cover the US involvement in that hemisphere?
Save for the Civil War, there really isn’t as much hardcore shite in our history as there is in Europe or Asia.
