Little known fact: We would assume that Japanese tentacle porn was born with the internet but there are wood engravings dating back as far as five hundred years. That is one odd little island.

About halfway through, great stuff so far! I'm really excited about this being a series. I've been really wanting him to cover the Pacific conflict of WWII for years!

Most people have no clue for the intricacies and scale and insanity of the Pacific naval conflict. It's hard to even fathom, and if he goes into detail I think it will be mind blowing for a lot of people.

Nah, they were fricked up probably worse than the Nazis. Their attrocities were the worst of the world.

My pawpaw served in the Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific. I remember quizzing him about if he hated the Germans and Japanese. He said didn’t necessarily hate the Germans (he actually respected their engineering and ingenuity involved in the U-boats that were trying to sink him), but he thought of the Japanese as, in his words, “rabid fricking animals”.
And that’s probably the only time he ever dropped an f-bomb around me growing up, so that says a lot.

Is Carlin’s main goal to not do a whole lot of shows about America because there’s already so much information out there about US History? Not that I’m complaining, he does a damn good job introducing people into a very complex topic. I wonder how much of this series will cover the US involvement in that hemisphere?

Save for the Civil War, there really isn’t as much hardcore shite in our history as there is in Europe or Asia.

Very early New World history (conquistadors up to about 1650 or so) is pretty gnarly and I think would be right up Carlin's alley. I know he has done shows on the Apache and mentions them a decent bit.

Carlin doing a show on Cortes, Pizarro, Balboa, de Soto, etc. would be stellar.

So I finished it this morning, ends right before the Japs get to Nanking, so the start of the next episode should be intense to say the least.

Yeah there’s so much info that I have to listen 3-4 times before I process it all.

Really hope his next one is on the Ottoman wars against Christendom in the 1600s.

I’d like to go back a little bit further. Gimme the epic that is Charles the hammer against the Islamic animal Abd Ar-Rahman Al Ghafiqi.
