New Falcons stadium will have Chick-Fil-A ... which won't be open on Sundays

quote:

Any time you get within 500 miles of Atlanta, you have to stop in at a Chick-Fil-A. It’s pretty much the law. But you can’t visit any Chick-Fil-A on a Sunday, because the chain stays shut that day, following the directive of its founder. Chick-Fil-A is willing to sacrifice a day’s worth of profit for principles, which you have to respect … at least until you’re craving a chicken biscuit on Sunday morning.

Chick-Fil-A is an Atlanta institution. As such, Chick-Fil-A will be in the Falcons’ new home, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, when it opens later this month. However—you see where we’re going with this—because the Falcons, like all NFL teams, play most of their games on Sundays, Chick-Fil-A won’t actually be open during most of the Falcons’ home games. Weird, right?

Chick-fil-a not being open on a Sunday is one of the stupidest fricking things Ive ever heard of.

It’s a long-term play by the Falcons’ ownership group, which also owns Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The stadium doesn’t just host Falcons games; it’s also the home of the Atlanta United soccer team. Arthur Blank, the Falcons’ owner, has said he hopes the stadium area can host 100 to 200 events a year

I'm not a Christian, but respect that they follow their principles. Though having a stadium location that won't be open for football games is absurd.

As the article notes, there's lots of other stuff that goes on in the stadium besides Failcons games. College football, MLS soccer, etc.

Why does everyone think this is some sort of "gotcha". If you look at all the events that will be there year round, it's actually a good idea, especially if they somehow have it at a location in the new stadium that it can be open on days besides when the stadium has events. I get it that the focus is on football season about to start and I think they said the only football game it'll be open is actually against the Saints.

But, like we discussed on Saints Talk yesterday, it's kind of hard to laugh at them for this, when the Saints are pretty much the laughing stock of the league right now. A broken leg misdiagnosed for a bone bruise.

I will say that is some stupid shite. I don't know how the stadium endorsement deals go, but it seems like the Saints got the shaft.

Our old Mercedes-Benz Superdome and their new, shiny Mercedes-Benz alien spaceship. If I was Benson and Co., I'd be pissed. I guess the money is still good though.

I guess on the bright side, we're the only team with one of these.

I heard they were going to run a special during Monday night games. 28 nuggets for $3. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

They kick everybody else's arse and stick to their principles. Their employees get Sundays off instead of having to work for whatever little they get. Their customers just know to go another day, doesn't matter because nobody eats at one place every day anyway.

Who is stupid again?

It will change to some other food on Sundays.

The stadium isn't just for Falcon's games.

People from Louisiana are fricking retarded.

Does anyone really think that chick fil a, who will sometimes host playoffs and national championships in that building, would pass on having a location there because 7-8 NFL games are played there?

I want chic fil a
