Yea I think he survived as well. He obviously had this thing well planned out. He left that plane at night in a storm for a reason. Very interesting story no doubt

What if he threw something out but his on the plane. Had a change of clothes and waited until it landed. Hung around and acted liked an investigator, then just walked away.

Never parachuted...

Well, I don't think so. He released the ~40 or 45 passengers. It was only him, one flight attendant )who was up in the cockpit) and the three man flight crew. He was the only other person on the plane.

I have a problem believing he survived.

The chances of him surviving the jump were so slim. No sane person would jump into a storm like that, at that speed, and in pitch black. He also didn't have a viable reserve chute: it was sewn shut and was only for training. Add in the fact that some of the bills were found scattered about and I think Mr. Cooper died.

If I HAD to guess I'd say there's no way he survived the jump and/or the landing

But I'm also not going to pretend that I know wtf I'm talking about either

Do you understand what the cliche 'a needle in the haystack' means?? This search is probably more difficult than that

Over a 40 year period of time nothing but a few bills are found and a placard. No body, clothes, bones, rest of cash, parachute etc has ever been found. Give me a break. The guy was obviously very smart and calculating. Everything he did was for a reason. He jumped into that storm at night on purpose. Over the years various experts have pinpointed numerous areas he would have landed and then searched that area. Nothing!! Not a single fricking clue. Cooper lives on!!

Hey now!! Don't go comparing this small task to finding the clitoris.

There was nothing about that jump that made it a high risk.

It's kind of odd, in a sad way, how people can't see the "never found" thing as supporting the likelihood of "didn't survive."

The fact that no body was found does leave open the possibility that he survived does it not?

A President should pardon him so if he's still out there he can come forward.

Never heard of that one. Someone thinks he lived as a woman after the hijacking to avoid detection?

I think my favorite is that the FBI says he didn't take into account night time, rain, the cold, he chose the wrong parachute...

YET...he knew everything about every single other detail of the heist. As if he wouldn't have thought about all the other things?

I understand it's a needle in the haystack, but there's just no way they wouldn't have found anything except a few dollar bills. I think it's highly possible...as in like 90% chance...that he walked away. The FBI wants to continue to say he probably died, yet they kept the case open for 45 years because they know its highly possible he lived.

This quote from the FBI says the exact opposite:

"We originally thought Cooper was an experienced jumper, perhaps even a paratrooper," said Special Agent Larry Carr, leader of the investigative team from 2006 until its dissolution in 2016. "We concluded after a few years this was simply not true. No experienced parachutist would have jumped in the pitch-black night, in the rain, with a 200-mile-an-hour wind in his face, wearing loafers and a trench coat. It was simply too risky. He also missed that his reserve 'chute was only for training, and had been sewn shut—something a skilled skydiver would have checked."[94] He also failed to bring or request a helmet,[113] chose to jump with the older and technically inferior of the two primary parachutes supplied to him,[49] and jumped into a -70 °F (-57 °C) wind chill without proper protection against the extreme cold.[114]
