An interesting read, caught an episode of Decoded a few years back that portrayed a guy named Kenny Christiansen as a possible suspect. This guy sums the theory up pretty well.
DB Cooper Theory

Seems like this would've been a no-brainer even before Cooper just for safety's sake.
the door couldn't be opened when the aircraft was pressurized, probably didn't occur to design engineers, and it means ole DB knew a little something about airplanes

They resolved that in "Prison Break"

Yeah definitely seemed knowledgeable
what does that do to the standard list of suspects?

Did they ever find a parachute anywhere? Whereabouts did he eject?
A portion of a parachute was found in 1988 and another parachute was found in 2008. Both were ruled out as the parachute he used.
It was concluded that he jumped into a heavy rainstorm over southwestern Washington.

Precisely. Especially when you consider this part of his stipulations for the flight upon second takeoff:
quote:
During refueling Cooper outlined his flight plan to the cockpit crew: a southeast course toward Mexico City at the minimum airspeed possible without stalling the aircraft—approximately 100 knots (190 km/h; 120 mph)—at a maximum 10,000 foot (3,000 m) altitude. He further specified that the landing gear remain deployed in the takeoff/landing position, the wing flaps be lowered 15 degrees, and the cabin remain unpressurized.

I hope he had an umbrella and galoshes.

Was it a real bomb and did he leave it on board?

interesting for sure, but we don't know where he got the tie
Article says JC Penney...So he was fashion conscious
No, it does not say that HE got the tie from JC Penney. It says the tie was from JC Penney. For all we know, he may have picked up the tie from a thrift store where the original owner donated it. He may have picked it up from some common area or an airport lost and found.
This new "evidence" may easily turn out to be inconsequential. It may only lead to someone who once owned the tie worn by DB Cooper on that day.

You are he, aren't you, Willie. Like Willie or even Dan Cooper is even your real name.

Can anyone recommend a good book on the DB Cooper events and following investigation? I see there are quite a few on Amazon. TIA.

There's a good rebuttal to the Christiansen theory:
Christensen was not DB Cooper
quote:
It all makes for good theatre. And more than that. Christiansen’s aviation knowledge actually makes him a better suspect than some of the critics in the DB Cooper forums will admit. But there are some serious problems with the story. Physically, Kenny is too short. He has pale skin. In my opinion, he’s only vaguely reminiscent of any of the Cooper sketches. Most importantly, the primary circumstantial claims from Into the Blast about an unexpected surfeit of money right after the hijacking has been dismantled piecemeal over the last few years.
Christensen was not DB Cooper

Wouldn't there be DNA on the tie? Hopefully they kept the glass from the drink he ordered on the plane. His DNA would be there too.
Also, the story about the kid digging on the beach and finding some money has a back story as well that is interesting.
He definitely fits the profile of an ex-army or special forces person.

This story has always fascinated me.

There's way too much possibility for contamination for this to stick.

Not necessarily so. Depends on how exactly the tie has been held over the years. I would assume it's been sealed up and preserved in the condition it was at the time.

I can't imagine it has been hermetically sealed for 45 years. I imagine it's been transferred in cardboard boxes numerous times as well as taken out of its container and held with ungloved hands.

Someone tell me about the 'bomb'...before I leave...now.

Is this the guy from the history channel doc that they were sort of hinting at? They went to try to talk to him on camera and he refused?

My father loved that story. He would say"he's still alive, son" & my response was"Yeah Right, 39,000ft and subzero temperatures"
