You all know that Mayor Holden tried to build a loop but was shot down by the public, the elected officials and NIMBY's of the world. While many folks are dying for a loop, the other vocal opposition lives close to their work, school and other needs and doesn't want the construction.

Next time someone wants to make improvements, go to the public meetings to offset the vocal opposition.

Hey, did y'all see this comment on YouTube, normally, YouTube comment sections are vile and worse, but this one:

Still looking forward to the Dabo Swinney expressway that passes over and runs right through Tuscaloosa. I prefer teams named after tigers and on the I85 corridor whether it's in SC or AL.?

There better be a frequent user rate. I live in Spanish fort and work in Mobile. At a minimum it will cost me $1500 a year to go to work.

Toll will probably be "dynamic", with variable rates for different parts of the day. You should also expect "Frequent Flyer" rates for locals.

Why does this even matter?

Tolls don’t work. Our study out of BR proved that
That's a HUGE and misleading generalization. Tolls get it done. Most notably when a Private Partner (P3) builds the project. The issue is who's going to reimburse the Private Partner: drivers, DoTD, or a combination of both.

Memo to frustrated drivers in BR: There's no free ride, and the state's broke. Same applies for the HWY 1 conundrum in WBR Parish.

Mobile will have a bridge way before BR and I am going to cry because it just puts the nail in the coffin that Alabama is ahead of Louisiana and that makes me very sad

People never see the trick with dedicated funds. The politicians just remove all non dedicated funds.

The problem then becomes people don’t trust politicians so then only vote on dedicated funds. Eventually the dedicated funds are no longer needed, but the government spends anyway and that is how you get government waste.

Take government out of the equation and let a private company finance, build, and maintain the infrastructure in exchange for tolls. AKA: Public-Private Partnership.
