Stop being a fricking idiot

They voted on straight party lines. 3 Republican votes to 2 Democrat votes. Then the Republican Ajit Pai repealed the restrictions.

Good. Over 80% of the country supports net neutrality, and the 20% that don't aren't properly educating themselves on the issue solely because Obama's name is attached to it.

Exactly. I’m still waiting for the downvoters to explain how net neutrality chokes out competition.

If we did everything the majority wanted, we would be in a whole lot of trouble...
Democracy is the tyranny of the majority.

This was actually brilliant for the Dems to do this. Basically what they’re gonna do is force the Republicans to go on the record to tie themselves to this vote to hurt them later.

It’s still gonna probably pass but the damage done will be very real.

Just another chance for the GOP to frick themselves. As a pseudo-Trump supporter, it’s maddening, as well as the Sessions Pot thing. But doing dumb shite in this party is nothing new.

Of course the Dems want to maintain control and choke out competition.

Net neutrality doesn’t increase competition, the virtual monopolies will Still be in place.

They overturned 2 year old rules. Was the internet pre 2015 really that bad?

I said stop being retarded.

Comcast was throttling Netflix connections and essentially forced them to pay up or else. It was beginning and NN rules put an end to it.

You really think the big ISP boys fought so hard for this repeal for nothing?

Comcast was doing this illegally, but not because of NN rules.

NN rules had nothing to do with why they stopped.

Net neutrality was the de facto way the internet has always operated. The rules were introduced two years ago because the ISP's were caught throttling.

You mean before the courts ruled that the FTC couldn't regulate non-common carrier services (ISPs) of common carrier companies (Verizon and AT&T).

The reason the rules were put in place and the power shifted to the FCC was due to the authority of the FTC to enforce fines and penalties coming under legal question.

It's still unresolved too, so the internet may not be able to be regulated like it was pre-2015 and any regulation of abuse will take years to enforce

But for some crazy reason, Pai keeps leaving that court case out of his talking points when bring up the "Obama era over regulation".
