Simple question. Did the creator get paid significantly for his creation?

Better yet, the original IP owner leases his patent for a handsome royalty.

How is this wrong?

It is the greatest human achievement of the last 50 years, and the current source of our greatest achievement as a species. And yes, modern society depends on access to it for advancement. But people like you hate progress. Lol.

yeah, and because of the amount of capital America controls, Silicon Valley (with their VCs) is the place where things get done. Not because of Net Neutrality.

Can we get back to how the Texas "deregulated" their power grid by literally creating regulations such as price floors for the incumbent utilities along with rules on using those incumbent power lines by other companies?

My understanding is that this was passed during the Obama administration? My head tells me that being the case then repealing won't be a bad thing. If its just going back to the way it was before 2008 then OK I guess.

God forbid you actually have to think instead of just looking at the party name beside the issue.

My hope is that if some of these ISP's actually try to push on charging more for certain sites, the world community will find ways around it. For instance, if it wants to charge you more to use Netflix, then a pass through site that isn't blocked may be the way around it, much like VPN. The ISP would only see data coming through the pass through site, and not Netflix. Eventually they'll just give up because their efforts will be fruitless.

This is how people in China get access to blocked sites.

I hope...

You serious Clark?

You really think the ISP will just give up when you just basically "stole" a show by using Netflix in this case?

How would they even know? My point is, that if most people are doing it, they will enter into a futile game of whack-a-mole and it won't be worth the time or money.

What have ISP's done to prevent people from sharing their user ID's and passwords with friends and family so that cord cutters can still access their content without paying for it? Almost nothing, and its been going on for several years.

I will have to read more about it. I was more projecting from a consumer approach. it's nice having cheap electric, especially in Texas.

I do however know telecom. People downvoting have shown to have a small understanding of actual infrastructure and the true dollar amount of what it takes to have internet broadcasted.

To be fair they have started tiers on the number of viewable screens to semi-counter attack this.
