I expected California and New York. But not these conservative states.
I think it proves that this isn't about liberal or conservative. It's a cross lines issue.

I’m sure the carriers spent hundreds of million in lobbying, campaign contributions, fabricating public comments in favor of repeal, and working to get their insider installed as head of the FCC all to not change their plans

Let's not forget both arguments are settled on a premise of if the carriers do or do not change plans.
They didn't fight and lobby this hard to get the power to do so and not use it.

They've already done it. Comcast and Verizon throttled Netflix speeds in 2014 until Netflix decided to pay a fee to both ISPs to improve performance.

There's a great picture going around that a famous porn cover, that's a girl smiling with several BBCs around her face.
Someone Photoshopped Ajit Pai's picture into it, and replaced the cocks with logos of ISPs.
I want to post it so bad. But you can still see the outline of the cocks. It makes me wish I had an alter. Because I don't want to get banned over it.

Yeah I forgot whether it was ATT or Verizon but they also began blocking apps like FaceTime in order to force consumers into their platform.
Which is a little bit of a different jurisdiction but it speak to the underlying fact that these companies are more than ready to slowly layer on the rent seeking frickery when given the chance.

The city of Chattanooga has the answer.
Yeah, I agree.
But ISPs have spent millions bribing, I mean lobbying, politicians to enact laws in states that prevent municipalities from starting their own fiber network. This is why it's not a free market, but a government sanctioned monopoly.
And it's fricking working.

Free market. Small government.

I thought this was ONE thing that wouldn’t be politicized. The tribe mentality is ridiculous. Just because something was passed during the other “tribes” administration doesn’t mean it automatically has to go.

Blocking competitors from bringing their product to market is just the free market running its course and the ideal of competition, or something like that I guess.

But it isn’t the gov’t imposing their will on you. It’s private corporations with merely the financial clout and influence equivalent to a medium sized nation state with none of the democratic, procedural, or substantive safeguards that protect against gov’t overreach when they act. So it’s way better

Yep! Keep the government out, I want to get this butt fricking, dammit!

If Obama cured cancer, Trump would appoint someone to bring it back.

Sadly my state is repped by the a-hole who led the charge on killing NN.
