I have committed to purchasing $150 worth of popcorn and $100 or Girl Scout cookies in the last week. I must be in a scout neighborhood. Anyone else notice an uptick in youngsters at your door?

The word you are looking for is "no."

That one word will save you more money than almost anything else.

I enjoy supporting local youth and believe in the scouts. The ones I pass on are when it is obvious the kid/family is not from the neighborhood. I also notice a lot of kids come to our subdivision for Halloween, as it has a reputation for being generous to trick or treaters

Just give them what they’re asking for. After all, it’s a great tax deduction.

I always tell them wow I wish you had come by just a few minutes earlier. I just bought a bunch of cookies from a little girl not 10 minutes ago. I’m so sorry I would have much rather bought from you.

Works great on insurance salesmen too. Usually tell them it was from my brother in law.

I was in the mood for some chocolate the other day and all of a sudden I get a knock on the door for a young girl with her mom selling chocolate almonds for $2.I bought 2 boxes and ate both of them.

I've never had one come to my door, now they all set up at the grocery store and mall.

I have purchased discount cards, raffle tickets, chocolate, cookie dough, scout cookies, schneef, and a book of Mormon so far this year.

The kids that have enough guts to cold call the neighborhood always get something from me. The kids that just set up shop outside the grocery store can frick off!

I used to buy all of that stuff because I sold it as a kid, and people bought it from me. The trend lately though is to have you order a candle, or some bullshite that is $29-$35. They are about the same candles as the Dollar Store carries.

Dude, unless you like cookies and popcorn give them 10 bucks each and say here's a donation. That may be the take home percentage for them.

Girl Scoit cookies and Boy Scout popcorn taste awesome. Money well spent.

Just wait until you get hit up for the Donation Dots fundraiser. That's some crap there

When my kid was in Girl Scouts, a box was $4 and the troop made 35 cents.
