Women do not seperate their emotions From themselves. Thus, if you are telling a woman “calm down” or “get a grip”, what they interpret that as is “your thoughts, opinions, and emotions have no value”. Because they ARE their emotions, their emotions are their identity, you are attacking HER and saying SHE doesn’t matter and isn’t worthwhile to you.

The only way to fix this is to convince her that she does matter, that her emotions are validly and genuinely felt expressions of herself, and that you care deeply about everything she has to say about how she feels.

quote:

1. "Lets talk about this and put it behind us"
2. Let her blah blah blah. Youre insensitive, etc. You listen
3. DO NOT defend, explain, excuse, or rationalize your comment and behavior. No "I said that because..."
4. "I shouldnt have said that." Smile and give her a big hug. Keep positive until she smiles, then you know you're out of the woods. Don't leave at this point, stay with her in the room or whatever for a while and talk to her about something else.

Next time don't let it linger so long. Don't be afraid of her emotions, she sees that as weak and unattractive. She wants you to be strong emotionally and able to navigate her emotions calmly and positively.

ughhh, this advice makes me gag and sad that people like you exist.

me sleeping on the couch yet again

My woman tried that once. I pointed at the spot on the bed I paid for, under the roof I paid for, and said I sleep right there.

Who sleeps on the couch? The only way that happens is if I choose. Otherwise half that bed is mine. If she’s pissed she can go sleep on the couch.

read the book and then go home and have a long conversation about the emotional pains of the story. get in tune with her feelings and help navigate her soul through this emotional time.

i didn't mean a damn word of any of that. tell her to leave that none of this shite is going to work out.

Do people actually do this?

I always hear lame, played-out jokes about "oh don't do that..." or "oh, don't say that...or you'll be sleeping on the couch tonight har har"

Who the hell actually does this? I paid for my bed, I'm sleeping on that MF. I'm not going to get a shitty night of sleep because we got into an argument. You stay on that side and i'll stay on my side. And I'll sleep like a baby

you've never met a woman like my mother then. she's all business and little emotion. LOL at women not being able to separate logic from emotions. but men can start wars over religion and women and money.... and it's clearly not emotion-based.

I honestly can't think of more than 1 or 2 times that my wife and I were angry enough at each other to carry an argument into day 2.

Life is too short to go to bed angry. Then again, I didn't marry a heinous bitch.

You need advice on this situation ASAP?

I guess my biggest question is why do you and your gf's parents let you sleep together? My parents never would have let me do that when I was in high school.

apologize.

you need to learn this technique if you plan on marrying this woman or any other. get it over with. life goes on. pick your battles. 90% of the time it's not worth arguing with them.

mine argued with me the other day that above ground garden beds only work if there is soil/dirt/earth beneath them for plants to spread their roots to. And I am pigheaded and stubborn when it comes to outside related discussions. And that her parents have had gardens for decades, she knows more. Stormed off and wouldn't speak to me for an hour. Me and you know that's nonsense, because most yard vegetables only need 6-12 inches of soil for their root systems. and the garden box i had planned to build was 12 inches deep. Regardless, I apologized and told her she was probably right ...

Doesn't mean I'm not going forward with my original plan with the garden bed. But it's not worth arguing with her about IMO.
