They need to put back the water level switch. That's the number one complaint I hear all the time.

Wait a minute... are y’all saying that literally no washing machine made anymore has a water level selector (because of some government regulation)? That I have to just let it decide how much water it thinks I should be using? WTF.

Guess I’ll keep getting my dozen year old sears kenmore repaired.

I can't think of one. Even the cheapest of the cheap use control boards now.

A 12 year old Kenmore is a direct drive. I'd keep it until the transmission fails, even then id consider that $400 repair over a new machine.

Had a Kenmore dryer that we used when I was a kid. Got rid of it about 6 years ago and it was over 30 years old. It still worked, but only in the short, low heat cycle.

After awhile I realized I needed to run a new heavy duty wire to the plug which makes me think that the dryer would’ve ran on high heat with the new wire.

My Maytag has a water level selector. Good old analog knobs.

I literally kept NOTHING that touched water after my house flooded in 2016 (I have severe mold allergies and could not risk it) EXCEPT my 2016 speed queen I had just purchased. Cleaned it and let it dry out for months then had a repairman change the bearings. BEST DECISION EVER.

I can’t say for sure that none do but mine doesn’t. I also can’t soak for as long as I want. With my old machine I could turn it off and let it sit until I was ready to wash. If I turn it off or pause it now it will drain after a few minutes.

If a machine has a bulky setting you should be able to get around the water level. It fills my machine and almost all I use now.

New machine. Figured out the bulky setting trick on the second batch. I’m okay with it now in that regard. But it takes for freaking ever to wash a load of clothes. I’m sending this shite back.

I had been using a washing machine that was probably 25 years old and had no idea the industry went to shite.

You want a Speed Queen, they are running a special till the end of this month where you get a full 10 year warranty. Most appliances come with a 1 year warranty. Speed Queen normally comes with a 3 year warranty.

Bought a Maytag from Lowe’s this spring that is awesome. I don’t have the model number handy but search for the one with the largest capacity with an agitator. It has an auto water level feature but you can override it to a deep fill option. Run time on normal with hot water and high speed spin is under an hour. Also has the delicate load and speed wash. Plus it has a power wash setting that is great for sheets and towels. Have the matching dryer too. Bought them because they are a top load washer that would still fit under the cabinets we built in place over our old front loader.

They aren’t what they used to be. Reviews on the newer models are terrible.

I heard that was only the 2018 models. In 2019 they went back to the "legacy" models.

I have the 2016 Speed Queen. Bad arse machine but one thing I am noticing since i've owned it is my clothes don't last as long. This machine is rough on clothes.

LG has one that gets awesome Consumer Report ratings on everything except water efficiency. That’s what I bought about 2 months ago. No word on longevity obviously but it has made Ms. FCP quite pleased. It’s in the CR top ten I think. While shopping, I noticed that just about every top CR rating was LG.
