Start with a penny day one, double it on day two, double on day three, double it day four (15 cents as of day 4)
What's the total (or formula) for 365 days?

The number would be too big to comprehend.
You have 2^30 pennies after a month.
2^364 pennies after a year. *corrected (credit to slackster)
You got this from your High School class, huh?

I know it will be greater than the national debt, just wondering what the answer is

By day #18 the doubling penny is now worth $1,301.72. By day #28 we're well over a million dollars at $1,342,177.28. And by day #31 – as promised – we've crossed the $10 Million mark at a staggering $10,737,418.23

A really, really big fricking number.

On the last day, you will put $375,766,813,244 with 98 zeros behind it

2^364 + 1
Is it? I'm thinking about how much you'd pay/receive on that 365th day. On the 2nd day you'd receive 2 pennies, or 2^1. On the first day you'd receive 1 penny, or 2^0.
The formula for the amount on any given day is 2^(n-1).

2^364 + 1
That's just the last day correct?
Wouldn't it be 1+(2^1)+(2^2)+(2^3)...(2^364)?

That's the winner.

If you need the cumulative amount of pennies you'd have after 365 days, it would be 2*(2^364) - 1, or (2^365)-1.
The cumulative amount of pennies after n days is (2^(n))-1. I'm putting extra parenthesis for our order of operations illiterate friends.

Thanks. After clicking this thread, my suggested ads are all about, 'How far donating a penny a day goes.'
