Follow on question what steps should I take now to protect myself in the inevitable divorce?
I don't know. I've never divorced. But, I did get a pre-nup/seperate property agreement before I got married.

Y should have a second kid not for you wife but for your only child. Only children are weird and fricked up. Plus if they're close in age, they can entertain each other instead of you having to.

This shyt is retarded. Why in the hell would someone who is against it do it for any reason. The odds of stress related issues could be disastrous. Like ID tv network disastrous.

Only children are weird but so are toddlers with parents in their 40’s

Mental? Physical? Good lord, what did you raise? My 16 and 13 year olds are self-motivated easy to deal with kids. My 8 year old is sassy, but she's a pleasure to be around.

Kids are a blessing. So is early retirement. Make your choice.

Giver her a second child. She will hold it against you if you don't and there's a good chance you will end up divorced.

Good advice. Got any recommendations on divorce lawyers?

An earlier post of yours makes it sound like your marriage is suffering regardless of this second baby debate. If your relationship is headed for the rocks regardless, a kid isn't going to fix it.

Accurate statement. Wife also had post partum depression and I've deployed five times which hasn't helped.

Adding another kid to that mix seems insane to me but she's committed to the idea.

Uhh, that's 3 significant issues you left out in your op. Kinda like asking if you should go fishing with Quint on the Orca and leaving out the part about the shark.
