Need advice on the commute from BR to Lafayette - Opelousas

I have an option to change my territory to include Lafayette north to Opelousas and am interested in the commute to and from. What are the best times to cross? I will have some flexibility but probably need to be there around 9. What about the time it will take me to get there?
What about the way back? I live mid-city so I have access to both bridges...

What is your current territory? Hard to tell if it would be better without knowing that.
Sales or something else?

You will want to take 190, normally the drive isn’t bad, figure 1:15 minutes

Definitely 190. You don't have to worry about getting stuck on i10 4x a week.
About an hour

Easily 190. No traffic and you have other options if there is a wreck that shuts down the highway, never happens on 190. Just watch your speed.

You'll be crossing 190 if you're wise. Hour fifteen or so from Baton Rouge to Opelousas. Hour thirty if you stop in for boudin and cracklins on the way for breakfast. If you need to be in Lafayette, tack another 15 or 20 on for the drive from Opelousas to Lafayette when taking that route. I-10 is faster if there are no slowdowns, but the time pretty much evens out with the longer 190 route because you'll be in slowdowns every. fricking. day. Also, you roll those dice on getting stuck because some stupid frick can't drive in a straight line over the Basin every time you cross it.
I've done the drive before, and my experience is that at first it isn't bad, but after a few months, when you start adding up in your head that you're driving at least 3 hours every day that you aren't getting paid for and see the sheer level of stupidity that Louisianians accomplish while driving, it gets fricking old fricking quick. You're going to want to kill people. Literally.
If you're just trading off local driving that you already do for regional driving, then it might not seem too bad for you. If you're adding that commute on top of your full workday, be aware that it might not seem all so rosy in a few months.
I absolutely DO NOT recommend taking a job that requires a daily commute across the Basin. The drive time and the sheer aggravation of the nature of the drive and the people around you is a nightmare. If you're the type that can handle that, though, godspeed and good luck in the new job!

And there is great boudin at the foot of the tall bridge, west side.

By far the best part of 190

Slow down in Krotch springs and Port Barre

My thoughts too, though some of 190 is crap, especially from Port Barre to Opelousas

Billy’s on the way to Opelousas. Kartschners on the way back.
Stay five miles under the speed limit in Krotz Springs.

The Chicken King in Port Barre has great food. And Kings Truck Stop has the best fried eggs I’ve ever had.

Never take I-10. Exclusively use US 190.
Stop at Billy's in Krotz Springs and bring Boudin to your clients.

Get in your vehicle and go west . That should do it

Ain’t this the fricking truth.

BR to Lafayette on I-10 is about an hour assuming no traffic. BR to Lafayette on 190 is an hour and a half. Its longer, the speed limit is lower, and there's speed traps all over the place. Assuming no traffic, I-10 is the best option every time.
