I live in Mid-City near Curbside and make the drive five days a week. Leaving the house between 7 and 7:10 every morning puts me at the Evangeline Thruway/I-49 right at 8 AM.

Coming back just depends on the bridge, if you can be on I-10 between 4:30 and 4:45 I normally have zero issues and barely need to slow down between Lobdell and the i-10/110 split. After 5 you are gonna hit some traffic

What are the no times you want to avoid on 10?

I don't ever have I-10 problems in the morning, but if you are getting back to Baton Rouge between 5:45 and 6:15 you are gonna sit in traffic going over the bridge for at least 20 minutes. I'd come back from Opelousas on 190 and go over the old bridge and call it a day.

I had to make this commute often.

ALWAYS take 190, unless you are leaving very early going from BR to Laffy. By early, I mean 630AM.

You can take 10 from Laffy to BR during the day between 9AM to about 3PM, then it gets nuts.

If you are coming from Laffy to BR on a Friday, ANY FRIGGIN FRIDAY, ALWAYS take 190.

Been there done that. Take 190 because all though it may not be the fastest approach every time, it will also keep you from wasting 4 hours once a month after a horrific crash. Nothing like spending hours with your engine off sitting on the Atchafalaya , talking to people in other cars and pissing down the side of your car. Even if you can cross the new Mississippi bridge with little traffic I still recommend 190 because of all the crashes that take place in that Atchafalaya stretch. Just drive the speed limit through Morganza and a couple other spots.

I've driven from WBR to Broussard for almost 15 years. 1:15 in the morning. Your time should be less if NOT going south on the thruway. bout the same on the way home, but the OMB or MRB is gonna kill your time. 190 adds an extra 15 minutes to my travel.

just get a good traffic app and make sure you use it before you head out or home. You'll know where you need to go.

I-10 is faster, but US 190 is much less volatile.

Take US 190.

days that end in Y.

obviously rush hour (am and pm). There really is no good time on I10 as accidents aren't scheduled. With construction work in the Laffy area, it can turn to shite quick. That's why I said get a good traffic app and use it. Its not as bad as some here make it sound. Just know before you go.

and learn all the little shitty back roads through Breaux Bridge, Henderson, Arnaudville, Port Barre, etc. They can help when things get bad on the interstate.

Use Waze every day religiously when you get in your car. Problem solved.

Easily 190. No traffic

The traffic usually isn't OOC on 190 but it has its moments.
