I should have clarified in the original post- the two guys are definitely not friends but run in the same circle. It wasn't a case of one guy throwing his friend under the bus.

Never had friends who were in relationships try and hook up with others but I had a pretty tight group of 5 friends. I'd say it's good for the piece of shite who was living with the girl but there is no way those guys are going to continue to be friends. In reality though the cheater sounds like a douche as does the teller so the friendship isn't a if loss either way.
Eta: The teller seems like a bigger douche upon rereading because his motives were selfish. I could see telling a girl if you knew her pretty well and the dude was just a casual acquaintance that you were on a trip with. This doesn't seem like that.

I didn't tell a friend of mine that I caught his girl cheating. I wasn't 100% sure though. He eventually found out way later. I felt terrible about it. But I didn't want to ruin a relationship when I wasn't sure.
