Making a collage for a seating chart for my wedding. We have 9 picture frames that I am going to attach to a square structural backing made of 2x4s. Trying to think what the best adhesive will be to attach that to the back of the frames. Obviously wood glue is out since it isn't wood to wood.

Would some classic gorilla glue get the job done? Definitely want it to be sturdy.

Titebond or any good wood glue, liquid nails will work too.

Glue and Clamp it til morning.

ETA: wait, the picture frames aren't wood? what are they, plastic?

3M 5200

Long cure time, messy cleanup. It'll be like the hand of God is holding it together though.

Sounds like you’re trying to over engineer the hell out of something as simple as a seating chart…

Some sort of two part epoxy should work well. Just get it right, because you only have a very limited amount of time before it is semi permanent. Don’t get it on your hands.

Also, I’m not sure how much the frames weigh, but hot glue could work assuming it does not melt frames.

Command Velcro strips could work too if they’ll stick to the wood well.

Combo of all 3?!?

Its actually genius if he's doing it so he can tell the wife-to-be that he's busy on this other project just go ask her mom for help

Go buy a couple art easels and be done with it. You’re making something very simple very complicated. The goal is to display a seating chart, not to show off your carpentry skills.

The carpentry skills won't even be visible. The whole thing will be painted black and used as a backing. Nobody will see it behind the frames. There are 9 frames so I'm not going to buy 9 easels. Basically just taking them and making a "collage" with the wood holding them together structurally.

You know what happened, don't you?

"Honey, you are in charge of the seating chart."

"No problem, I got this"

I’m really trying to picture this in my head. What are the dimensions of your frame? Why 9 picture frames? Whatever you’re making doesn’t sound small.. the collage itself seems like a cool idea, but there’s many ways to make a collage that don’t involve 2x4’s, picture frames and serious adhesive.

Instead of glue, try a double sided permanent VHB tape.

I would just screw them from the backside. Just get the screw length correct.
