This makes no sense whatsoever.
Also their ranking? of the face coverings is bizarre. The N95 mask is last. The N95 mask is the most effective mask, period.

Yep. I know several vendors who have ordered thousands of them to hand out as promotional material. The gaiter will be the new "no mask" issue for Karens to pounce on.

I have noticed that a lot of people have started wearing these as a "mask" and I love it because I think the mask mandate is dumb. All of these places that are requiring people to wear mask are accepting neck gaiters as mask. Which in my opinion demonstrates how dumb all of this is.

None of the masks work, however political theater is looking to take down anything masculine or American. So what you have is now the attack on the neck gaiter. Why? Because it reminds them of military operators or hunters. Can't have all those American flag or military printed (afghantype) gaiters out in public. That's the opposite goal. The goal is totally humiliate us and denut us. Not for us to show any strength. They can promptly F**k off.

My neck gaiter is more comfortable and breathable than other masks I've tried.

I like the neck gaiter. It makes me feel like a cowboy. Sucks if it doesn't work though.

I literally went on amazon and bought 2 gaiters after reading the thread about this yesterday and everyone saying how comfortable they are

This is also droplet count, not overall volume I believe.
Honestly this article seems to be some sort of scare tactic though, probably politically motivated considering that one demogrpahic seems to wear them more

While there may be more droplets (questionable since they used a cell phone camera to do this study). they don't comment on how far the droplets are spread. One of the main points of the masks is that when you breathe or sneeze, you aren't blowing air more than a few inches from your body, without a mask it can go everywhere.

Not all neck gaiters are the same though. I have bought quite a few in my quest to find the most comfortable face covering.
I bought a few Magellans from Academy. These are very thin and one that I bought even has little holes by the mouth to help you breathe. My son took that one to use at the gym. I ordered a few of those SA Fishing gaiters that were buy one get 4 free. These are very thin as well.
The Mission gaiters seem to be the thickest material of the neck gaiters that I have tried and ironically enough may be the coolest and most breathable of all of them. of course these will set you back $20 each.

I see a lot of studies (or people talking about this) measuring how many droplets get past the mask or how far droplets extend past the mask and equating that to effectiveness. But what I haven't seen is if these masks actually prohibit COVID-19 from escaping the mask.
The reason I bring this up is I really don't care if my droplets go 2 feet or 10 feet. Usually when wearing a mask we are out in public moving around. People are naturally going to walk into where you were breathing or coughing. And if the mask keeps things in a 2 foot diameter from you, would COVID-19 be more concentrated and thus make it easier for someone to contract it than if it were dispersed? Just throwing that out there.
ETA: This is why I'd much prefer controlled studies that measure lower or higher COVID-19 incident rates.

well this study seemed pretty legit and said cloth and surgical masks are very effective...
