Neck gaiters may actually increase transmission

Apparently, thin neck gaiters divide larger particulates into finer ones (essentially aerosolizing the droplets) so they hang in the air longer. They compared them vs different mask types.

The only masks that are effective:

Buff type gaiters are made for sun protection and are fairly breathable, so yeah, it’s common sense...which most people don’t have...I.e. mask around your chin or mouth only.

So whats everyone going to do when they have another study in a few months that says that 90% of all masks used are ineffective

The most secure mask, an N95, led to a droplet transmission of below 0.1 percent. But handmade cotton and polypropylene masks, some of which were made from apron material, also proved effective, with droplet transmission ranging from 0.1 percent to 0.4 percent. One mask, which was knitted, released a higher number of droplets, from 0.1 percent to 0.6 percent. But none of the masks compared with the neck fleece, which had 110 percent droplet transmission (10 percent higher than not wearing a mask).

So wear a gaiter if you are one who is screaming to just get this over and everyone needs to catch it.

I wish they would have used a mask with one of the check valves that everyone is using.

The national media will refuse to talk about it

While that may be true, the mask's primary function is for virtue signaling and "preventative theater". So in that respect, the gaiter is just as good as any other mask.

My child is 7. Her school is forcing her and all of her classmates to wear masks...all day, with the only exception being lunch...which they eat in a "socially distanced" manner. She wears a gaiter because she finds it to be the most comfortable of the options. I MUCH rather her be able to focus on what the teacher is teaching as opposed to being distracted all day by an uncomfortable mask

I read the article and thought it was garbage. It says that most masks reduce transmission by more than 99% (a good thing), but then goes on to say that the neck fleece actually increases transmission by 10%. It doesn't explain how or why. Sorry for being dense, but please explain.

The neck gaiters, the thin fishing type (FR version) are the ones being used at most of the refineries

Again proof that all of these mask mandates are simply virtue signaling if they allow a mask that is marketed as breathable.

Just like you Two refusing to read the article in the OP that tested multiple types of masks and found most to be effective.

I use a neck gaiter to hold my n95 in place. Checkmate atheists.

You are reading the chart in the article incorrectly.

Just come out and say nothing stops transmission so we can get rid of mask in general. Lol
