Yeah, and there seem to be some component issues in cold, slushy weather too.

Govt is paying producers to retool factories and offering incentives to produce EVs. It will lead to subpar products, overpriced markets and angry consumers who will turn on the Producers.

If EVs evolved organically, they'd be a beautiful thing. But central planning always fails. It never ever works.

I read somewhere that the cost of owning an EV is comparable to owning a gas powered vehicle and spending $17 per gallon on fuel.

I'd love an EV.
How much will you like the 10k plus battery replacement cost? Plus the fact it has only resale value as scrap after the battery goes out if you don’t replace it

They're not too stupid, They're just too prideful to admit they were hoodwinked and that we were right. Biden and his supporters are a daily example to the fable of "The Emperors new cloths"

Right now the program is voluntary - so the dealers that don’t want to spend $1 million+ on the upgrades can opt out.. Soon it won’t be optional - meaning Ford will risk losing some dealer franchises if they can’t make a compelling EV to sell.

Did you just make this up or is this legit? Seems incredibly stupid on Ford’s part if true, but I’m fairly confident you’re just blowing smoke.

Yes, forcing EVs this fast is stupid, no need to make stuff up to further prove your point. Let me guess, you are someone who hates the media because they make stuff up to push a narrative…how ironic

The biggest problem with any EV not named Tesla is that the 3rd party charging stations aren't being built in numbers that make them dependable. Throw in the fact that probably over half of them don't work or can't be counted on to actually charge anything and it's a shite show.

When Elon dropped his prices to match the competition it became stupid to buy anything other than a Tesla if you wanted an EV. Tesla is way ahead technologically and way ahead with chargers in good locations. The big 3 can't even make an ICE vehicle that is dependable, so I'm sure their EV's are going to be recall monsters even more so than their ICE vehicles. Which is saying a lot.

Govt is beyond stupid with their mandates, but we've all come to expect that.

They will do this by raising the price of ICE cars to subsidize the price of EVs until the market buys enough EVs.

And then once the market catches up, they’ll keep ICE cars the same price. Nobody EVER lowers prices.

Daughter in Law drives a Prius hybrid . Uses it for her commute. Will run around 40 miles on an overnight charge which gets her back and forth to work everyday. Plugs in to a regular outlet in their garage. The best and only viable use for an electric vehicle that I can think of . Also not a bad running little car.

Bidenomics set aside billions to include a nationwide network of charging stations, but none have been installed and if they were without adding new generation capacity it will only raise the risk of grid failures.

Makes me wonder where the billions went.

Plug-in hybrids make far more sense than pure EV's. You basically get your EV with a built-in ICE generator when it's needed. The Army took away two of our GSA 7-pax vans and replaced them with one plug-in hybrid minivan. Except we have no way of plugging it in. The good old 15-pax van is getting more use now at least...

You're partially right. They got that calculation from if you remove all of the government subsidies.

They make non-plug-in hybrids.

That's the way to go if you dont need to tow anything.

We just need to throw some more dollars (governemt) at it, that should do the trick.

A nearby Ford dealer put in a charging setup, right in front of his showroom, that has at least 8 chargers. Awnings and all. Looks like a convenience store.

This is rural WI. Town of 5000.

I've never seen more than one car plugged in when driving by.

And that car is probably the dealer's loaner.

He went all in and spent a lot of money he probably regrets right now.

He basically quoted the article, so I'm not sure why you have heartburn about what he said.

If you're a Ford dealer and you want to be a top-tier EV franchise, it costs $1M. That's a fact.

Of the 2000 dealers that signed up to sell Ford EVs ( at various tiers), 400+ have dropped out.
That's a fact.

Ford EVs aren't selling as well as first predicted.
That's a fact.

Mary Barra, CEO of GM, said this:

quote:

Our strong ICE business that frankly has gotten stronger, and we still believe there’s growth there,” Barra said.
