The writer posts here.

The mother was injured when she attempted to get out of her husband’s pickup to check on her daughter and she fell cutting her head, according to the report.

Reminds me of the mom jumping in the pool in Meet the Parents.

That was totally bullshite to charge the father with reckless driving, or anything else related to protecting his daughter.

It was bullshite but I will catch those charges all day, everyday to save my kid’s life. I’ll also take it to court to let my peers decide if it was warranted.

Dad charges aren’t that bad they might just drop them. At the time, the cops have to do it.

i guess it depends on whether or not his driving was a risk to other people on the road at that time

If that was my little girl, they could arrest my happy little arse, and pucker up and kiss it as well. I’d do the exact same thing if in similar circumstances, and the cops would have too. Most everyone would. Matter of fact, you’d have a hard time pealing me off of him.

Perp got in over his head at this point.

Edit….just saw this was in Jefferson…not Athens proper. Dad should ask for jury trial and then sue perp in civil court for damages to his truck. Jeffersonians will probably have a parade to celebrate this man.

Yep. And everything they tried to charge me with would be worth it.

good on him for defending and protecting his daughter however he deemed fit. But get off your emotional rollercoaster.

In Georgia, you have the right to defend yourself or others if you feel your life is in danger with any means necessary. Where in the story did the guy do anything that didn’t show he stood the ground based on GA law?

quote:

Georgia self-defense law gives you the right to stand your ground and use reasonable force to defend yourself or others, even if you could have run away instead. This is true if you are approached on the street, in your car, or even in your own home. The determination if you were legally standing your ground will be based on where the defensive action took place and whether you were standing your ground to defend a person, property, or a habitation (a house or potentially a vehicle) or land.

The cops could have taken all his information and let him walk away that day. They did not need to arrest him and take him to jail. If they investigated and found reason to believe it wasn’t standing ground, then they could go and arrest him

Since the enraged Dad and the drunk Ruskie both were arrested, did they end of in the same jail cell? Because that could be the interesting part of the story.
