If someone is stalking and chasing your daughter, do you not think it’s your right to defend her at all cost? If she feels her life is danger and cannot evade the situation, do you not feel a father should be legally able to protect her at all cost?

What fricking world are you from where you woke up as this being a bad thing?

Legally yes.

It sucks for the dad, and the perp is a giant POS. But, the dad could have hurt an innocent person doing this. The law doesn't even allow cops to do this in some places, let alone civilians.

good on him for defending and protecting his daughter however he deemed fit. But get off your emotional rollercoaster. Any cop that shows up to any scene of some guy intentionally ramming his f250 multiple times into someone else’s car would and should 100% of the time be arrested.

Not often I agree with you but this is one of those times.

That said I knew my chances of going to prison went up exponentially when I had a daughter. Can’t blame the dad, wouldn’t take much threat to my daughter for me to be willing to throw it all away.

I want to be arrested and then request to ne in the same cell as the perp. Makes sense to me.

This. If I were in this situation, I'd understand I was being arrested for doing what that guy did to protect my child. I would happily take a ride to lockup and HOPE they put me in the same cell as that guy. I'd tell all the other guys in the cell what that dude tried to do to my daughter. I'd imagine a few would even help with the arse kicking. Not sure of the political leanings of Athens, but I know quite a few police departments/DA's that wouldn't prosecute for the traffic and assault charges.

I’m on record as disliking bad cops & false arrest, but this is not that. Like you said it’s procedural, & they had to. Sort it out later. But if they don’t drop the charges later once they learn he was potentially saving his daughters life, that won’t be cool.

Not a huge fan of these hypotheticals. You usually hear this from monday morning quarterbacks saying, "Cops shouldn't have chased the guy into a neighborhood."

Bad things happen. Criminals shouldn't feel safe - ever. EVER.

"But what about vigilantes? We don't want that."

I'm not going to let my kid be a statistic, so smug pseudo-intellectuals can feel like the law is more important than her life.

"Two wrongs don't make a right."

Any decent father will take that trade.

Good God man. The dad should have been DETAINED, have the cops actually figure out what was going on. Then released. Period.

That was totally bullshite to charge the father with reckless driving, or anything else related to protecting his daughter.

I live not too far away in Gwinnett so I'll be following how this turns out over time. Thanks for the link, deeprig.

The same planet that allows BLM demonstrators to throw rocks at cops and burn buildings to the ground without getting arrested.

The planet where some punk bitch is attacking a teen girl and her father intervenes.

Seriously, you are a fricking idiot if you think this father committed some crime by defending his daughter.

I’ll say I don’t put 100% faith into media reports, police reports, or teenage girl reports-

I suspect the situation is probably pretty close to written but not racing to be outraged. Probably should not play bumper cars in a neighborhood as a rule of thumb but if there was imminent threat then dad will probably walk away fine.
