NBA above all other professional league is a players first league. People follow players more than the teams.

No Jordan, Thomas, Magic, Bird, Kobe or Shaq superstars anymore. And LeBron is a shell of his former self.

Plus the NBA above all other leagues went all in with the Black Lives Matter stuff. Even before that I would really only watch some of the playoffs and the NBA Finals. Nowadays I don't even bother with the playoffs, maybe I'll watch a little bit of the NBA Finals but that's it. No real interest in the NBA at all.

There are at least 2 players playing today who are better than a few on your list.

Lebron is better than all of them except Jordan

Jokic is better than all except Jordan and maybe Magic

That was like 4 years ago and doesn't register now.

The NFL did, too, and they're killing it today.

The nba really only went woke inside the bubble. NFL teams still have slogans plastered on helmets and end zones but your average “Jeff, 46, Rayne” can look past that for some reason. I mean yea regular season NFL is more important and exciting but it always cracks me up when “muh woke” is the first excuse i see during these discussions.

There’s just nothing there to create interest. No shite talk, no aggressiveness, no real competitive spirit, bunch of crybaby queer players, etc etc. Bring back MJ, Kobe, and Larry Bird personalities and games and watch the sport take off again

There's no passion for the game. That and majority of the players are astronomically overpaid, they play in maybe 50% of the games on the schedule, and they can't play a basketball game without flopping when a stiff breeze passes by them, and the refs don't understand how the game of basketball is played.

My 10 year old's basketball game refs are more knowledgeable about the rules of the game than NBA refs. The amount of blatant traveling/double dribble/etc... that is never called is laughable at this point.

And when the "ambassador" of the game is LeBron James, you will see the game itself suck arse.

NBA glory days were in the early to mid 90s, with spurts in the early 2000's. Now it's just another industry propped up by woke corporations.

The last time I actually watched an NBA game, the Pelicans were still the Hornets and Peja, David West, and Chris Paul were playing. There was “Peja on a stick” on every seat in the arena.

I'm in the same boat. Used to watch all the games I could, then just started watching the Sixers. The product is terrible. Mostly three point shooting, and even centers are shooting 3's and not banging it out in the paint.

The flopping makes it hard to watch too. It's gotten so soft, and the season is way too long.

As an NBA fan, I'll tell you what I think.

- No likeable "face of the league". Lebron was it. He isn't now plus most people don't like him.

- Analytics. Analytics says the percentage difference between a mid-range jumper and a 3-point shot is negligible, so everyone is taking the 3-point shot. See my next point.

- Steph Curry made a bunch of mediocre players think they can shoot 3's from the logo. They can't.

- Activism. Casual fans don't want to be preached to. Many regulars don't either. Thats why it stopped in the NBA and the WNBA continues to struggle.

- No good white American players to attach to. The good whites are foreign. No connection to American. Whether they like it or not, they need white people to care about the NBA. We are starting to not.

- The one person that was changing the above trend for white people and all of basketball just went woke. Caitlin Clark. Basketball is toast.

I just lol at how manufactured this league is. They really want us to care about the NBA cup and the Bucks winning when it’s irrelevant and no one cares.

Lack of defense and an abundance of prima donna players like LeBron.

The Lakers and Lebron "won" last season. The first one. Hung a banner and everything. That's how manufactured it is.

Thing is, and I didn't put this in my last post, is that the players make more than ever right now. TV rights have just gone up and NBC just paid a ton. However, you have star players that just don't play. The league has implemented a games-played minimum to win offseason awards. The players don't care. Until contracts are not guaranteed, nothing will changed. They make 30, 40, 50, mil a year and play half the season. Hell, some players say the regular season don't matter. The playoffs do. 8 teams make it, 10 if you count the play-in. There are 15 per conference. 20 of 30 teams make some sort of postseason. There is no incentive to play. Meanwhile, fans pay record amounts for tickets and concessions while star players don't play. Its really ridiculous.

Both the NFL and NBA went off the rails when it came to BLM. The reason why the NFL came back strong was because everyone loves football. Everything associated with the NBA/WNBA is woke, racist shite. Speaking of that dickhead POP, can you imagine a conservative white head coach criticizing Cum? They’d be fired on the spot.

All the league cares about. Would you care if people told you they weren't gonna watch you work next week if your salary was gonna triple?

Can barely stomach the NBA, and I loved Milwaukee last night +5.5 & 6..and Moneyline.

God I love the self deprecating “old white men” quip from white people

We used to take pride in our accomplishments. Every other race can congratulate each other and celebrate each other and be unabashedly proud of their skin color and what it meant to be a part of that group. Not us.

Now we have all these mentally cucked white people tearing other white people down so they can feel high and mighty to signal to minorities “hey…. I’m white. But I’m a good white. Ok?”

And they don’t give a shite

Honestly the most pathetic phenomenon

Walker Kessler is gonna save the league, baw. He hit two threes the other night, back-to-back to start the game. He's 100% on the season from 3.

You are 100% correct. Somehow, this dam has to break. If viewership is down 48% over 12 years like OP says, then it will continue to decline and advertisers will not be willing to pay for spots during games. TV networks will lose money and so will the league, I guess, is how its supposed to work.
