The nation’s average price of gasoline has fallen 3.2 cents over the last week and stands at $4.01 per gallon, according to GasBuddy® data compiled from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. The national average is down 7.3 cents from a month ago and is 86.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel fell 1.4 cents in the last week and stands at $5.570 per gallon.

“Average gasoline prices fell in slightly more than half of states over the last week while diesel declined in roughly half, as oil prices moved lower and offered some modest relief at the pump,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Not sure why the seemingly large discrepancy this week. That said:

Understood, and AAA appears to do weekly articles, but those are on Thursdays. I like starting off the workweek with an update article.

Also, AAA’s don’t include diesel. They address gasoline and EV charging.

Probably market correction. Nothing has particularly changed in the fundamentals to start a true decline.

A lot of people are probably going to monitor demand destruction in this uncharted territory.

I’ve noticed that it’s decreased about $.15/gal week over week here in the ATL metro.

But ABC news told me gas prices were skyrocketing and the 65 billion barrels from Venezuela wouldn't make a dent.

Inflation Calculator online tells me the current record average for diesel, $5.8159/gallon in June 2022 would equal about $6.55/gallon in July 2026.
