Who here has been affected by this?

Lost my baby sister in February from breast cancer. She was 27, mother of a two year old. That poor baby shouting "Momma" at her memorial when her picture was shown on the screen behind the pastor tore everyone up. My sister donated her body to research.

I always thought this was a little over done until it affected me.

That's terrible sorry to hear that. All women should get a gene test, they can do an amazing risk assessment.

I do not believe enough is being done, and, like the victims of breast cancer, there's something I'd like to get off my chest. We all must fight, and hopefully one day, titty cancer will be a distant mammary.

It is absolutely overdone and those who are affected by this disease should be the biggest opponents of foundations like Susan G Komen

people think the "awareness is already there," the money should be focused on cancer. The reality is, awareness is not where it should be unfortunately. And the numbers show that. It's better, but there still room there too.
shite even coca cola advertises, and everyone has heard of it.

Now I'm not sure what the awareness funds/cancer research funds ratio is, but the awareness part of it has its place.

I'm not going to list the reasons why it's a joke, but it's out there if you want to research.

In general though it's a company that is a lot more interested in brand recognition and making money than finding a cure for breast cancer.

Sure, not all the money they raise goes towards treatment and research, but they give a lot more than you or most other charities do... So jump off the hate wagon.

Sorry to hear, theantiquetiger. It sucks.

My mom is stage 4 now. Chemo side effects are bad enough that she’s considering packing it in.

LOL
The whole movement is about much more than this one “company” that you have a problem with.

NFL was partnered with the American cancer society for the pink stuff, not Komen.

I believe they are still partnered with American cancer society, but teams can choose their own form of cancer for which they can raise awareness and funds.

For once I'll not make a joke.

My ex was the marketing director for Erin Krampp. Author or Living With The End In Mind.

A must read for anyone terminal.
