I would just say that most people would say breast cancer is a bad thing. We just don't need to be inundated with all these in-your-face advertisements which are primarily designed to make money.

Women, in particular, should get checked, but there's a difference in being aware of something and then actually thinking it could happen to you.

How many people over age 50 have a colonoscopy every 10 years to head off colon cancer?

Lost mom when I was 16. A bunch of her relatives died of it too.

Easier said than done. Insurance is a PITA to deal with. I finally got my first mammogram at 37 and insurance covered it, but it wasn’t easy doing so. Then, they wanted to say the 3D mammogram was not covered, but the shitty one would be. After I argued with the idiot manager of clinic and called insurance and threatened to have my dear friend dr refer his patients elsewhere, they finally obliged with no cost to me. But, how many women know to fight for the correct preventative test? Most just do whatever insurance says or healthcare personnel say to do, whether that person is incompetent or not.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but I'm not sure this is the thread to rally behind your point.

I'll be sure to give my wife a breast exam daily this month.

My wife is a 5 year survivor. We partake in many fundraiser here locally. She recently rocked the house as a model at the BUST BREAST CANCER event at LaBerge. Happy to report physically she is doing well. Unhappy to report the surgeries and treatments have robbed both of us of the life we were hoping for.

So sorry to hear about your sister. Wife is a breast surgeon so I frequently hear the stories. Most are success stories, but a number of them mirror your sister’s story.

That's a shame. 27 years old is way too young to lose your life to cancer.

That stinks.
My wife is healthy, but she looks like she got into a fight with a shark with all the scars on her stomach, hips, and breast.

Thanks, sad thing is, nine months after she after finishing treatments, etc, and being declared cancer free, they discovered it had spread to her lungs, brain, and liver, basically giving her a death sentence.
We had the big "Cancer Free" celebration and all, just to have it punch us in the face.
