re: Nastiest divorce situations you've seen.

Lawyers play a really dirty trick on their clients by stoking up the emotions so that people who used to love each spend thousands of dollars in profit for the lawyers fighting it out.
When I got divorced in 2016 I explained to my wife that, assuming we had $100K in assets, we could play nice and each take $50K, or we could get attorneys and each get $20K while the attorneys walked away with $30K/each. We filled out a few worksheets dividing everything up, then had a lawyer put it into legal form. Start to finish was less than 3 months and $2,000 with 50/50 child custody and no child support either way.
As a previous poster said, it's a business transaction at that point. You have to take any emotions out of it.

I mean, my brother in laws Uncle killed his soon to be ex-wife. So, there's that.
My brother's first ex-wife ran off from Alabama to Virginia with my nephew while they were in the process of getting a divorce. That got both families and a bunch of lawyers involved in a divorce where neither party had any real assets. Tons of fun with that one.

I know of a guy who had to split everything purchased during their marriage, sold his bass boat to a guy he knew but the wife didn’t. Selling price was a dollar, so the ex got fifty cents. When the divorce was final, he bought the boat back.
I bet you a 100:1 that the guy he sold his boat to had been through a shitty divorce.

There are ways to do that, but theyre not quite this simple. If you sold the boat for a dollar and her attorney doesnt suck, he'll see this and try to claw it back. But I do know a number of guys that have stashed assets under their friends' names in order to hide stuff.

You were wrong on everything during Covid, BLM nonsense and 2020 election. Hopefully you learned a lot!

The nastiest divorce I've witnessed was a friend who was annihilated by his Preachers Daughter wife.
So much for "You just need to marry a good girl"
It was my experience growing up that PKs were crazier than the average chick.

Friends of ours are partners in a prominent SF Bay Area Construction Company. Husband hires a secretary a couple years ago. Starts giving said secretary exhorbitant raises, perks, corner office and the like. Secretary is given access to certain company accounts (passwords, ect..)
In early February while the husband and wife are on vacation in Hawaii, husband comes clean he's been banging said secretary for the past year, has given her a lucrative severance package and is leaving his wife to go live with the secretary. Husband packs up, heads back to the Bay Area to the townhouse he purchased for the secretary. Husband arrives at townhouse, only to find secretary has moved out, to the Maldives which have no extradition treaty with the USA. Within 24 hours it is discovered that the secretary also scimmed $250K from the company, used some kind of virus/program to lock up access to the companies biggest accounts and is currently blackmailing the company for an additional $500K to unlock those accounts.
My friend lost his wife of 39 years, his adult kids hate his guts, and business partners have began proceedings to buy him out of a company that he had invested 30 years of his life into. Final note, FBI has become involved, saying they believe this is the same woman who did the exact same thing to a law firm in the Chicago area some years back. Total shite show.

One day she came out of their bedroom naked grabbing her crotch and saying "you'll never get this again". Friends were there as well as his two kids.
LOL.
That woman was on drugs or had some shite going on much worse than menopause.
All of our friends are between 45 and 55 and I’ve never seen/heard much of anything about the women and their issues with that other than hot flashes.

got news for you bruh, that ain't menopause
Some women do better than others. I've seen several 20+ year marriages down the drain when the women start menopause. Hormones can go bad out of wack and cause a lot of issues. Poor husband just thinking...why is my 45 year old wife suddenly acting like an irrational teenager.
Posted on 4/3/25 at 2:15 pm to Tr33fiddy
Menopause is no excuse to be a psycho.
Posted on 4/3/25 at 2:16 pm to Tr33fiddy
Even worse, I've heard of a few where the wife went bananas right after having a kid -- I'm guessing it's a post-partum depression type of thing. It's one thing if she goes crazy when she's older, but I can't imagine having to divorce your wife right after you had a baby.

Your friend was really thinking with the wrong head

It all ended well enough. She came back and they pretty much did a no fault divorce and she took over the house they had just bought.
It was really odd for me because my whole family was shite talking her but my brother and I had been friends with her for over a decade before they started dating. Divorces make people crazy.
