According to NASA, the odds of collision in 2032 have been edging up from a 1-in-83 chance since it was first spotted. It has since moved to 1-in-67, to 1-in-53, to 1-in-43 and now to 1-in-38. The European Space Agency has slightly different odds, currently giving the asteroid a 2.41 per cent chance of collision.

Do I start buying TP now?

What are the chances of it hitting the water, since that makes up the majority of the planet?

Ok so what are the options? I don’t want to send drunk roughnecks up there

Shouldn't the odds just be the odds? What is making them "edge" up?

i would love to see NASA defund Elon completely and then 6 months before the asteroid hits beg him to build a rocket to intercept it.
that would be the ultimate EDS. frick the Earth, we don't like his politics.

The odds are still in our favor!

can we select the city and rotate the earth accordingly?

They don't know the exact path. Think of it like a hurricane tracker map

More accurate predictions, same as the weather.

They are the odds based on the information that's known at the time. I was 99% guaranteed to win my fantasy league. Then Burrow through a bomb to Chase and those odds completely flipped based on that new info.

Luckily, the vast majority of us prepared for this in the 80s. We can either shoot it (but then it will turn into smaller asteroids), thrust away (but then we just drift continuously) or go into hyperspace (but we may reappear directly in the path of another asteroid). These are really our only options.

Watch the movie Greenland where an asteroid will hit earth and the US government evacuates people with certain skills to rebuild society (Doctors, Architects, Engineers, etc.) to bunkers in Greenland.

If it hits the middle east or China it would do us a service.

If it's determined that there will be an impact, I'm sure they can eventually calculate where.
