You serious? Well besides all the great things NASA has invented for use here, colonizing other planets, predicting solar storms, asteroids, and other life are pretty essential to the next step in human evolution.

My bet is something like actual running water or fossils. If it really is huge and not NASA just claiming it is so we'll pay attention of course.

If NASA finds alien life, then you can be damn sure it will leak all over the internet before NASA makes an announcement. Alien life would probably break the internet

What they will announce is very small compared to what really Mars is. Hollowed out and colonized with slaves. All this will be disclosed by this time next year. But more important is the disclosure of our own Earth has civilizations inside massive honeycombed structures. read about it here: Interior Earth populated

Yea, satellites haven't helped at all. Without them we would totally have wireless everything.

Um, no. Every time NASA feels that their funding is under threat--Google for more info concerning the possible upcoming government shutdown--NASA makes a "major announcement" of some kind about an alleged new discovery in an effort to try to stave off the budget cuts. Nothing more to see here...

It will probably be one of the following:

1) Proof of recent or current liquid water found somewhere

2) Compounds were found that they believe can only be created by the presence of liquid water and possibly some form of life

3) Something regarding possible tectonic activity

4) Further announcements regarding the location or crew of the manned mars mission in the 2020s

EDIT:

5) A monolith of black stone surrounded by apes.
