I just don't trust Wal Mart's Great Value food items. There's got to be a reason why they are cheaper!

I accidentally made the mistake of buying Great Value brand milk at Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago. It tasted like white water. Never again. When it comes to that, spring for the name brand.

Really not.
Example: smuckers wants an average sale of X . They know son people will pay more because they think price = quality. They know some folks are price shoppers.
Long story short, math math math by units sold and profit margins. ..... having the high and low price point, serving two segments of the market, both being yours is a great way to do business

And I understand the marketing strategy behind that from the "OEM's" standpoint. It's just psychological point that house brand items are produced to a lesser quality.
An example is Great Value packaged salads. They have more lettuce stems that say Fresh Express brand.

Bacon. There is a noticeable difference between the cheap and more expensive in quality.
Also, the fresh cut deli bacon at Albertsons is better than any prepackaged and also cheaper.
So that counts as my when better is better and where cheaper is better.

Standards in my house:
Soda (see above, there's a reason coca cola is called "the real thing")
Gator/poweraide
Water enhancers (crush, hawaiann punch, mio energy, poweraid)
Frozen pizzas, though there a few decent ones, then u have the cardboard variety.

Toilet paper
SOS/Brillo pads
Flavored chips , in particular all the frito lay line
Bunny bread
Heinz ketchup
Blue plate mayo
Slap yo momma
Marauchun Ramen
Simply Orange juice
Ragu old world style traditional spaghetti sauce.
Country crock churned margarine
Wish bone Italian salad dressing
French's mustard
Planters peanuts/cashews
Shout
Febreeze

They recalled a bunch of peanut butter a few years back that came from one plant and it was the same stuff being put in name brand and generic labels. It's all the same.

canned veggies and fruits. I can't tell much of a difference between sur fine and del monte.
Disagree. I tend to find stems and weird pieces in generic canned veggies.
