Oh and JBE should keep a watchful eye on Edmonson and that shady deal with the Vegas travel, illegal campaign contributions and the State Trooper associations' surprise endorsement that troopers weren't consulted on. FBI is investigating and it may go somewhere.

Blame these two self serving pieces of shite for burning down the unity of conservatives and making a harmless scandal a bipartisan political issue that JBE used to hide from his liberal as hell voting record in the statehouse.....
They didn't have the solid conservative and professional credentials that Vitter had so they went into the gutter of character assassination for several months to bring him down and it wound up preventing their voters from ever supporting him in the runoff against JBE.
Dardenne was smart enough to know he was done in the GOP so he went to work for JBE but Angelle was dumb enough to think he could still win another race after what he did and lost to this guy for Congress.

You have been bitching about this forever it seems, but if Vitter was such a strong candidate, he would've won in a landslide. Fact is that he wasn't, so the primary was close, and he lost the election.

At least not in the resume, and policy sense but rather political gamesmanship.
Whenever you lose an election, you are never ever completely without blame in it.
Vitter was complacent, overconfident, and lazy and earned and deserved the loss for running a shitty campaign that made a stupid and fatal miscalculation in ignoring JBE until it was too late.
He could've survived the broadsides from Dardenne/Angelle if he made sure that JBE went into the runoff contested and heavily damaged with his liberal record being marinated into the minds potential republican voters that JBE was going after.
When potential voters don't like you very much, you have to make sure they don't like the other guy either and Vitter didn't do that and he deserves the blame for that.
You never ever ignore your opponent and allow them to sell narratives uncontested to voters until its too late and the sell is irreversible. To do so is political malpractice and Vitter did just that.
