No OT baller tanks though. He’s only 6.

We had a goldfish bowl for a few months but got tired of replacing fish when the cat would decide to be a cat every couple of days. We were finding mangled goldfish all over the place. So we’re going to get him a real tank but was just curious if anyone had a simple set up with a lot of fish. He’s more interested in quantity than quality at this point.

Thanks you bunch of degenerates.

The bigger the tank the easier it is to maintain--especially if you're putting a lot of fish.

Don't do it. It's a bunch of trouble and the fish die for no reason

when i was that age i had a fish tank that i would fill with specimens i caught/netted in the ditches and ponds around the house...minnows, tadpoles, small bream & bass, a gar, turtles etc. it was a great way to learn

so instead of going out and buying a bunch of imported fish, i recommend filling it for free and using it as a teaching tool

Personally, I’d get rid of the cat and keep the goldfish tank.

If you want a lot of fish, you'll need a large aquarium. Even relatively small fish need a certain amount of room. You can easily find guidelines online for recommended number of fish per gallon.

Get a 10-20 gallon and populate it with a few male and female guppies. Nature will take care of the rest.

Antscanada had a very reasonable rainforest one.

Goldennugget has an entire YouTube series about building a tank.

I would start there.

you can get a 10 gallon off craigslist with all attachments for cheap

get him a net and go to a pond or ditch and let him catch crawfish, grass shrimp, small fish, dragonfly nymphs and help him identify what he caught and keep some of then in the tank

good times

They are a pain in the arse to keep clean. Don't get goldfish. they get huge and crap a metric ton.

The fish are going to die because eventually you will get tired of cleaning it / replacing clean water in it.
