Almost every senior living community I’ve ever seen started at 55. Pelican Point. Villages. You name it.
Because there is a federal law that allows certain communities to discriminate due to age starting at age 55

Only one person in the household needs to be 55+, everyone else just needs to be 19+ that "lives there." Kids are around as "visitors." Trophy wives are allowed

That's only for certain areas though. As it expanded and got popular, it's very much open to any age at this point as some sections are designed for young families. It's fast just becoming another suburb.

This isn’t true. Sure there are some neighborhoods that are geared towards the people working there but that’s a minority of the area - and they don’t get access to the amenities like the 55+ area does.

Also the whole STD thing was made up by a doctor that got fired from the villages hospital.

I have friends that live there and I visit at least once a year. I enjoy being around people like me. We've always enjoyed it. You can do as much or as little as you like

The young family sections that were built by the villages have their own amenities. The businesses are open to all. People don't have to be 55+ to live there, just 19+ if they have a 55+ living in the home and get access to all the same amenities, so do their "visitors."

Yeah but they’re not nearly the same. That’s like living in Kissimmee vs Celebration.

Also no one is saying the businesses in the squares are 55+.

Also - minor visitors are limited to like 2 maybe 3 week passes.

There are ways around it, I know people there that know the tricks.

I doubt anyone on here would want any part of a setup like that, all of those assholes from the northeast are obnoxious as hell, give them some thing to feel "elite" about(a 55+ club for example,) and that pseudo snobby elitist attitude magnifies

How many upside down pineapple figurines did you see as you drove around the neighborhood? Don't forget to order you some before you move.

They are allowing more young people in to buy houses. I think the Villages is fascinating. I remember when they started up that community many years ago and it’s amazing to see how much it has grown.

There are a LOT of complaints about the restaurants there though from quality of food to proportion sizes to prices. It’s the #1 complaint I keep hearing over and over from people who live there

For example, a chain restaurant in the Villages like let’s say an Olive Garden is nothing like an Olive Garden in other cities. I think the rent there is so high that restaurants have to drastically cut corners while trying to keep the prices as low as possible for all of the residents who are on fixed incomes

Yeah, you're probably correct. I'll price a bunch of them, see what I like, and maybe check out the used market.
