Have any of you guys ever tried stabbing a tire thru the tread?

Yes.

Depends on if you have a decent knife.

I stabbed through the hood of a 1983 ford ranger when I was in high school.

Coach said it wouldn't work.

What accounts for the condition of the knife? It been driven over.

Do people who slash tires usually drag their knife along the concrete to scuff it up, break the knife off in the tire after stabbing into the toughest part of the tire 10 feet away from the glass door of a gun shop, with the truck's owner within a few steps?

Good news, nobody is after you. You picked it up while driving.

This. It's easier to get to and it ruins the tire.

Someone tell me how someone shoved a knife without a handle into the huge threads of a truck tire in broad daylight in a busy parking lot.

I'll hang up and listen.

You ran over it.

Fut, not to mention, one never cuts just one tire. Most folks have one spare....If you are trying to really inconvenience someone, you cut at least 2.

A friend told me this...

Just letting the air out of two works pretty well.

Or so I've been told.

PSA: The Mir exchange in last night's Kristen Stewart F-Bomb on SNL thread here is entertaining and recommended reading in case anyone missed it.

I had a pair of needle-nose pliers puncture and go all the way through a tire. Brand new truck one week old. Wasn't covered by factory warranty either

Who stabs the tread? That's a tough angle to get at. You sure you didn't roll over it in the parking lot? I'd bet most people going into a gun store will have a pocket knife, and I've had mine fall out before

OP:

Take a broken knife and try to puncture one of your other tires the same way this one was done, you won't be able to do it.

Then stab the sidewall and see how much easier that is. Once you do that, you will realize you ran over it and no one stabbed your tire.

It was probably lying flat and as you ran over it, the knobby tread caused it to flip up at a weird angle and puncture the tire.

Lay it back down on the road and run over it until you duplicate the problem. I think you will find that out of the above mentioned methods, this is the one that most likely happened to your tire and that if your tire was slashed by an individual, they would have stabbed the sidewall.

If someone were to deliberately slash your tires, they would slash the sidewall. Much easier and just as effective.

What you have is road debris.
