And why have college costs exploded? The main reason?
It's funny that most of what is blamed on another generation is actually government's doing. And the younger generations consistently vote for more more more.
High housing costs? Regulations.. taxes.. requirements. you see what a new HVAC unit costs nowadays? Wanna guess why they are so high?
High vehicle costs? Regulations.. taxes.. requirements. In the 80's and 90's you could buy basic vehicles that ran and lasted if you took care of them. And you could repair them. Now? 10,000 stupid emissions requirements, 50 airbags in a vehicle, gotta hit fuel standards requirements, have to use thin oils, hybrid crap, etc.
Appliances? Same. "Efficiency"
Fuel? Multiple taxes. Regulations.
And right down the line.

I think a lot of stems from them claiming they work so hard which is clearly never the case. I've worked in sales and our poorest performers were always boomers but they always got a pass because they had "experience." If I missed a target (which only happened once) I was on the hot seat for a month.
You could put yourself through college with a part time minimum wage job if you didn't blow your money.
Meanwhile, they're supporting politicians that send our jobs overseas, making it harder to build houses, send our tax money to a foreign country, putting occupational license requirements on jobs that don't need them.
A lot of it is ignorance I'm sure but that's not really a good excuse and is a bad look to other people.

Best time for chart 101 is now. That slope 2010 forward is the story, no? Too big to fail fingerprints!
If can pay lower interest on debt than GDP growth, good monetary policy, no?
Whole stories and social media are oil & water.

Yep. And what representation do the younger people vote for and what is their choice of elected representatives' view on the role of government when it comes to regulations, restrictions, and control?

Why?
You're making his point.
The money you paid into Social Security for the last 40 years has already been spent. If you truly cared about your kids & grandkids, you'd argue that you should forgo your distributions from Social Security so that your kids & grandkids could stop contributing as you wanted to do so in 1986.

The mind of the boomer: "I think everyone despises my generation because they're spoiled by all of the creature comforts we selflessly gave them."

The "boomer" controlled government that favors more government intrusion in private industries, more regulations, more restrictions, etc from representatives voted in majority by the younger generations.

False. Go back and look at the Bernie Sanders support and from what generations.
Edit: truth stings doesn't it? Ok. The new Virginia governor. What's her stance on regulation and taxes? Who voted for her by generation?
Who voted most for AOC? Remember her wanting to spend trillions on green initiatives? What would that have done to costs? She a "boomer"?

What can you actually do about it? Other than bitch, NOTHING. Vote for people that you hope can change it, other than that, stop wasting time concerning yourselves with perceived slights from others.
As you said, I can vote for folks to change it. I can advocate for younger folks in the workplace so they don't get screwed over (thankfully my boss, Gen Xer, doesn't have the shitty pull up the ladder mentality). And that's just the surface of that.
I know you think multitasking is hard, but some of us are capable of doing it.
quote:
What's the stereotype? That i don't blame groups of people for what i am or am not able to do? I'm in my 40s. I don't spend time thinking about how Group A has X, therefore i can't have Y. I worry about my family, and focus on doing my job the best i can do. And i teach my kids, that spending time making excuses will get you NOWHERE. Blaming others will get you NOWHERE. The only thing in your life you can control is yourself. Better yourself and you will be fine in the long run.
Well, I'm here discussing the issue with Boomers making it harder for younger generations but I own a home and I live comfortably. I have multiple degrees. I pay my student loans (and have paid off two). That doesn't mean I have to shite upon the younger generations behind me in the process. I want them to not have to deal with some of the shite I've dealt with as a result of the people ahead of me. And since I'm older, I have the power to advocate for those people in spaces where their voices may not be taken into consideration because of their age.
You're fricking sky screaming for people to shut up on a message board. It's peak old man yelling at cloud energy and you don't even realize it.

Lots of homes less than $200K near Baton Rouge
Gonzales is to Baton Rouge is about the same distance my dad drove to work. This is pretty comparable to the house I grew up in.

Just for shits and giggles, I ran a $56,000 salary (which seems reasonable for a police officer) through a mortgage calculator, in Baton Rouge, with no monthly debt and a $10,000 down payment. You can get a $200,000 house with those parameters. Meaning, you can live in a total ghetto

But why in a case like mine where I am using my SS distributions to go to my grandchildren’s various savings accounts. We set up savings accounts for our children when they were born.
I joke that I use SS for boat gas money, but that is only after the grandchildren get their cut. I trust us more than the Government to provide for my children and grandchildren. It is not my responsibility that the Gov spent all of my Social Security money without my permission. I expect what I put in returned to me so I can spend/invest as I please.

Entirely possible, depends on where one lives and how content one can he with less materialism.
The small town i grew up in is very safe and has very low COL.

My in-laws are awesome but fall into the "stereotypical boomer" trap from time to time. Wife and I keep them humble when we have conversations about finances and expenses.
A good example from when she was beginning her physical therapy doctorate program - which was a simple undergraduate bachelors degree until the late-80's (when the last boomers graduated). They called and offered to help with her tuition - giving us $5,000/yr. We were more than appreciative and used that to offset the $45,000/yr tuition. After graduation, we mentioned student loans and they were shocked we had them because they had assumed we would be able to cash flow it with my job ($40k/yr) and their gift

You mean how boomers hate millenials?
Boomers voted for illegals and nafta and offshoring so we can’t get cool jobs
Boomers taught their daughters to get divorced and listen to rap music so we can’t get married
Boomers voted for section 8 and welfare and hug a thug judges so we can’t afford a safe house etc etc etc

It isn’t your money.
You were robbed and now they are robbing your children to pay you.
That is your children’s money.

You voted for them. Also, your generation created identity politics so why are yall mad it's being flipped?
I know a lot of people on here will say "this is liberals fault" but boomers are probably the most liberal generation when it comes to fiscal policy at least. Kamala got close to half of your generation's vote.
Even "conservative" boomers vote for politicians that support deficit spending, modern monetary policy (biggest cause of inflation), globalist economic policy, and Neoconservative foreign policy (which has taken trillions out of the budget).
