Were you alternating water and Gatorade (electrolyte drinks)? If not, that's definitely part of your issue. Too much water really screws your system up and the symptoms are similar.

You don't get heat stroke only because it's hot outside. You get from lack of fluids. If it caught up to him as fast as he said it did, then in all likelihood, it's because he wasn't very hydrated before he started and he didn't drink enough fluids as he was mowing.
Also, unsure of what the water he was drinking is like but he might not have been drinking sufficient amounts of electrolytes

Those things also regulate your organs, eg potassium and your heart.

This. Liquid iv has for sure saved some lives in my industry without us really even knowing.

I've gotten dizzy doing Summer yard work too many times. It's scary.
Now I drink a ton of off brand Pedialyte 30 or so minutes before and drink a bit more after. It doesn't taste good, but it really has prevented me from getting dizzy. Also try to mow early in the morning or late afternoon (obviously you can't do this if it's your job).

If you were by yourself, it’s likely you couldn’t accomplish this but a cold tub full of ice and water around 55° for about 15min will prevent someone from dying from heat stroke.
I thought you had to gradually reduce temperature to prevent shock
I did some research.
For suspected Heat Exhaustion, you gradually cool. If they shiver, stop cooling.
For suspect Heat Stroke, cool the patient rapidly any way possible.

That sounds like scary stuff. Glad you're good.
I have to ask, because this part is making me so uncomfortable for you
On top of the ambulance ride (which is not cheap and sucks arse)...Do you get a bill for AirWolf now too?

Just out of curiosity are you taking any allergy meds or blood pressure meds right now?
My beta blocker makes me super arse heat intolerant because you can’t regulate body temperature as well on them.

Heat stress doesn’t care how fit you are. And everyone reacts differently. Some people have gradual symptoms that progress steadily. Others drop off a cliff. I’ve got some experience with this both personally and professionally.
If you start to feel bad, get in the shade and drink water til you have to pee. Get yourself some electrolyte tablets. I also recommend using Nuun tablets in water, don’t drink Gatorade. I find sports drinks make me cramp up.

I just finished a run in 83% humidity and gonna crush some of this. Expensive but does a good job.

Yeah. I’ve had heat exhaustion twice. Once, I was sure it was a stroke bc I don’t remember about 24 hours and my husband said I was talking more jibberish than usual. You will definitely be more susceptible to it now than before.
Also, water alone isn’t enough to replace what you lose in that heat. You need to be replacing electrolytes, as well.

4 pages in, has anyone mentioned electrolytes yet?

This should be a wake up call to exit half arse decent shape and get in shape.

If your going to be out sweating for an extended period of time it's a good idea to take some salt tablets if your re-hydrating with only water. Water alone can be counter productive.

Damn man.
It’s rough at there and we deal with it since not only are we outside but also inside tanks which act like an oven. Luckily most places set up some sort of cooling station and demand that you take necessary breaks.
